Job Description

We are seeking a senior level technical leader for Olympus Digital Unit to head product software development and integration activities for Olympus’ System Integration line of products. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing development and integration of software / hardware solutions and products related to Olympus’ System Integration and Image Management digital platform in surgical and endoscopy areas. You will be relied upon to provide leadership to the agile teams of internal developers and external consultants, define and understand long term product goals, legacy constraints, and Olympus technical culture while ensuring that deliverables meet project goals and schedules. The candidate should have a deep understanding of Microsoft technologies, understanding of audio/visual system integration along with proven record of delivering secure medical device software to the market.

Job Duties

  • Understand and coordinate activities of product development teams, including product and project management, software development, develops and others to ensure product delivery on quality and on schedule.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to appropriate processes and work instructions to support strategic direction and align with external guidance.
  • Develop and maintain software product development work instructions in cooperation and coordination with other organizations within Olympus such as Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Security and Privacy.
  • Identify and ensure appropriate resources for product development needs.
  • Represent technical system architecture, risks, constraints to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review development artifacts, such as system architecture and design documentation.
  • Work with other technical leads within Digital Unit to coordinate processes, activities, and deliverables. Define and support strategic directions and tactical activities.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in related discipline, such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related is required. Masters Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Information Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing software development teams and projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in driving organization to successful product delivery.
  • Demonstrated influencing experience in achieving results in matrixed development and support organizations. Ability to work in a multi-discipline collaborative environment to include Olympus partners and international colleagues.
  • Experience with strategy and technical roadmap development. Ability to produce an action plan.
  • Solid technical background in understanding Microsoft technologies and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • Understanding of healthcare interfaces and information flows, such as HL7/DICOM/FIHR.
  • Understanding of hardware interfaces, using proprietary and industry standard protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience with SDLC, including source control, configuration management, continuous integration pipeline.
  • Understanding cybersecurity and secure SDLC.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  •  Availability to work in the Westborough, MA or Center Valley, PA lab as required.


Preferred:

  • Software medical device, and audio / visual / hardware integration experience preferred.
  • Management / leadership of software development team preferred.
  • Desired experience in development of Software as a Medical Device and related design controls.
  • Experience in audio/visual system integration is a big plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate expectations, provide clear and honest feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
