Job Description

The AI tribe is a new team in Olympus’s Digital Health unit. This Tribe is focused on using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to assist with detection, diagnosis, and automation of intra-procedure endoscopy workflow. The Staff Product Designer, AI, will join our design team to help define the vision for how AI/ML works in our products and drive the execution of delivering elegant user-centered solutions. This person will work as a senior level contributor to lead user research, user experience, service design, and interface design of emerging products in digital healthcare. Working directly with a product manager, tech lead, and a team of engineers, this employee will work strategically and hand-on to drive outcomes in this exciting new space.

Job Duties

  • Oversee and execute across all phases of the design process from vision to conception to implementation to include (but not limited to) wireframing, prototyping, service design, and visual design.
  • Work as a partner with product management, engineering, and product and design leadership to define how AI and ML will shape the future of our products.
  • Work through problems from beginning to end, translating research insights into ideas that form disruptive new products and features, prototyping these ideas to assess market viability, and help formulate a clear vision which may span multiple product areas.
  • Think big, and explore divergent concepts while understanding how to converge and build iteratively towards your vision.
  • Design and prototype elegant, internationally scalable solutions that communication your work, meet user needs, and help grow our global business.
  • Lead, conduct, and synthesize qualitative user research, usability tests, and quantitative data analysis to understand needs, inform design decisions, and validate solutions.
  • Lead improvements in design standards, processes, tools, and team culture to support a continuous improvement approach.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally. Be able to precisely articulate design rationale and goals.
  • Inspire the Digital Health team and our internal partners by bringing innovative ideas to the table and defining next-generation interfaces and service design solution.
  • Lead workshops, brainstorming sessions, and other design thinking exercises.
  • Be a strong mentor and coach to other designer on the team to maximize their usage of user-centered design principals and help raise the bar for design, continuously evolving our design processes and guidelines.
  • Create high quality design standards and strive to ensure other designers achieve these same standards.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to other designers during weekly design critiques.
  • Assist with hiring within the design team by conducting portfolio reviews of qualified design candidates to help identify top talent.
  • Help lead innovation across the organization by driving the adoption of user-centered processes, methodologies, and tools.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in User Experience, Design, or related field required. Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in User Experience, Design, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience working in UX/product design field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience designing user-centered responsive web applications.
  • Minimum of 3-7 years experience designing across multiple platforms (Web, Mobile, Embedded, etc.).
  • Travel required (US and International).
  • Availability to attend meeting with team members spread out around the globe.

 

Preferred:

  • Highly proficient with current design and prototyping tools (Figma).
  • Excellent presentation and documentation skills.
  • Excellence in visual design craft.
  • Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Medical technology or healthcare experience preferred, although not required.
  • Familiarity with front-end programming languages such as HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with front-end design tools such as Ant Design.

 

** The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $145,000 to $203,000 per salary, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position, including level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
