Job Description

Sr. Principal, Supplier Engineering (SP SE) is a primary point of contact with NPD (New Product Development) Projects that are governed in US region in terms of technology solution for issues at suppliers' end. SP SE ensures technical capability of supplier, reliability, and performance to ensure excellent component/parts supply.

This position is responsible for providing technical solution for the component/parts from suppliers and support for NPD Projects. This includes:

  • Collaborating with manufacture core technology, Value Added (VA)/Value Engineering (VE), advanced sourcing and category management, driving supplier enabled innovation to achieve QCDBI requirement in NPD PJ, and early engagement with external solution provider.
  • Mitigating technical risk in early stage of NPD collaborating with R&D, manufacture core technology, VA/VE, advanced sourcing, supplier quality and category management.
  • Development of cost saving in NPD projects, especially in early stage of NPD projects collaborating with manufacture core technology, VA/VE, Finance and category management.

Job Duties

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities to identify those with appropriate technical expertise, production capacity, and resources.
  • Lead the process of drawing review and conduct Design for Excellence (Dfx) and Design for Manufacturing (DfM) collaborating with stakeholders such as R&D, Manufacturing, Category Management and Advanced Sourcing.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities with suppliers to enhance the quality and efficiency of processes, products, and services.
  • Manage supplier risks by identifying and mitigating potential disruptions, quality issues, and regulatory compliance risks within the supply chain.
  • Foster effective communication, negotiation, and collaboration with suppliers to build strong relationships and achieve common goals.
  • Implement initiatives such as cost reduction strategies, value engineering, and supplier negotiations to optimize costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Work together in “Should Cost” setting with manufacture core technology, VA/VE, advanced sourcing and category management.
  • Define technology challenges and come up with the actions to achieve the requirement working together with suppliers.
  • Disciplinary leadership for a medium sized team with substructure (potentially cross-site).
  • Responsible for department budget.
  • Responsible for equipment realization budget/capex.
  • Representation of site externally (supplier etc).
  • All other Essential Duties as directed

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • B.S Degree in Engineering, Technology or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree (M.S.) a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of functional experience ideally in an engineering/production environment in Medical Device Industry.
  • Proven track record of projects / activities with impact on business

  • Decision quality: Capacity to identify and resolve technical issues related to component performance, reliability or compatibility.
  • Collaboration: The ability to work effectively with various departments within the organization, including engineering, procurement, quality assurance and manufacturing to ensure seamless integration of
  • components into products.
  • Cultivates innovation: Commitment to continuous improving processes and procedures related to component sourcing and management.
  • Project Management.
  • Disciplinary leadership experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $131,345.00 - $183,883.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
