Job Description

The Sr. Director, Platform Lead drives the development of a robust, scalable, and compliant platform that underpins customer-facing applications and accelerates their delivery. The Tribe achieves outcomes such as reducing development time, ensuring platform reliability, and supporting seamless integration across applications. By enabling faster time-to-market and robust operational performance, the Tribe Lead plays a critical role in delivering scalable, secure, and efficient platforms that enhance customer satisfaction and organizational success.

Some of the key squads under the Platform Tribe include 'Clinical Data Platform,' 'Hospital Integration,' 'Developer Experience,' and 'Analytical Data Platform.' This role will functionally lead four Chapter Leads (Software Engineering IOMT, two Software Engineering Backend Chapters, Data & Cloud) and two Center of Excellence Leads (Architecture and Hardware Enablement).

This role requires core skills and deep expertise in platform scalability, cloud infrastructure, and DevSecOps practices, combined with the ability to lead global teams and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Job Duties

  • Strategic leadership
    • Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for the Platform Tribe, defining quarterly milestones.
    • Identify and integrate modern and emerging technologies such as DevSecOps practices, container orchestration tools, cloud services, and/or AI-driven optimizations into the platform to enhance its value proposition.
  • Functional management
    • Take functional leadership role for four Chapter Leads (Software Engineering IOMT, two Software Engineering Backend Chapters, Data & Cloud) and two CoE Leads (Architecture and Hardware Enablement); lead, coach and develop them in their roles.
    • Challenge and support Chapter Leads in their role of ensuring excellence in the Chapter’s discipline, ensuring consistent standards across squads and ensuring performance management, employee development, retention and hiring.
  • Squad management
    • Coordinate the leads of approx. 10 cross-functional platform squads.
    • Set clear goals for squads, aligning responsibilities and expectations with quarterly outcomes and ensuring accountability through regular performance reviews.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, clear expectations, and professional growth.
  • Platform delivery oversight: Supervise the delivery of core platform components, ensuring they meet SLAs, adhere to compliance frameworks, and achieve scalability targets.
  • Regulatory and compliance oversight: Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to ensure all platform components meet regulatory standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 13485, while embedding automated compliance checks into the development lifecycle.
  • Stakeholder Management and Organizational Alignment
    • Cross-departmental collaboration
      • Partner with application teams to identify key bottlenecks in development workflows and deliver platform enhancements and enables efficient development.
      • Collaborate with executives and cross-functional leaders to align platform strategies with broader organizational goals and secure funding for high-impact initiatives.
    • Change management
      • Lead the adoption of modern technologies and practices within the tribe while accommodating legacy systems.
      • Facilitate smooth transitions by bridging traditional operations with digital transformation initiatives.
  • Operational excellence oversight
    • Oversee platform infrastructure operations to ensure high (>99.9%) uptime, scalability during peak loads, and robust disaster recovery mechanisms.
    • Work with the engineering chapter leads to implement DevSecOps best practices, including fully automated CI/CD pipelines, real-time monitoring, and predictive. maintenance.

Job Requirements

Required:

  •  Degree in Computer Science, Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Proven success leading 8+ cross-functional teams, managing engineering projects across distributed legacy organizations, and delivering measurable results such as a improvement in platform performance.
  • Other considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.):
    • Willingness to travel (30% expected).
    • Candidate must lead a global team (100+ team members), driving strategic initiatives.

 

Preferred:

  • Expertise in strategic thinking and roadmap execution.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in modern technologies, such as cloud platforms and DevSecOps practices.
  • Ability to lead transformative initiatives in complex environments.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $182,390.00 - $273,584.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
