Job Description
This role, reporting directly to the Vice Pres., Swan Alliance Management, plays a critical role in executing against global upstream product marketing strategies and Product Development Initiatives contributing to the overall business strategy with the Gastrointestinal Solutions Division focusing on the Swan Endosurgical Alliance. This position helps shape the future of Olympus’ most innovative solutions merging robotics with foundational products across the Core GI and GI Endotherapy Business Units by being the marketing core team member on Olympus projects to support the development of the Swan Endosurgical robotic system.
Additionally, it supports the identification of new or expanding market opportunities for endoluminal surgical robotic solutions and create strategies and product development proposals focused on realizing Olympus commercial value from these opportunities. This position collaborates with peers with the Swan Alliance Management team and across the globe on market research and analysis and will lead initiatives to drive our business objectives under.
Job Duties
- Contribute to Swan Alliance Management as the Product Marketing Core Team Member responsible for all functional deliverables of the assigned projects, collaborating with various US-based and Global Olympus entities in support of both supply chain and product development efforts necessary to enable Swan Endosurgical’s milestones. This would include working within various OMSC, OCA and OSTA systems to support the creation of new items and the associated business processes to transact the logistical aspects in support of the development, and ultimately the commercialization process.
- Assess new opportunities in the field of endoluminal interventions. Identify and execute market research activities to develop customer requirements, business opportunities, and marketing positioning. Analyze market data to develop insights, identify trends, and establish roadmap of devices/systems needed to capitalize on identified opportunities. Develop business cases, including technology assessment, target market assessment, financial modelling and related due diligence.
- Work with Senior Director of Swan Alliance Product & Strategic Marketing as well as peers in the other GI Business Units to develop long term strategy plans for endoluminal robotics business. Refine the business case for endoluminal robotic systems, including Olympus custom products integrated therein, identifying areas of concern and adjusting market opportunity assessments and required investment for both organic and inorganic projects.
- Ensure that market and competitor dynamics are well understood through primary and secondary market research, analysis of customer requirements and competitor product definition. Collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure stakeholders are regularly informed of these dynamics and implications for our business.
- Contribute to building the commercialization strategy and measures of success for the various aspects of the endoluminal robotic platform(s) and associated devices, services and systems to ensure readiness for launch and sales execution by the regional commercialization teams.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Sciences, Engineering or Marketing required.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in medical devices space, demonstrating success in upstream and/or strategic marketing.
- Proven success in translating voice of customer and market needs into customer requirements and solid business strategy within a global company.
- Experience in successfully developing effective launch plans, demonstrating strong clinical and business acumen.
- Track record of effectively managing market development for innovative medical devices.
- Experience managing portfolio of both hospital capital and disposable medical devices for the United States market.
- Strong track record of developing resonating value propositions, positioning and targeting.
- Collaborates well with cross-functional team members and can efficiently navigate complex organizational structures.
- Thinks critically to problem solve and role models constructive inquisitive dialogue.
- Communicates effectively with clinical stakeholders and can tackle in-depth clinical conversations with physicians.
- Mobilizes key stakeholders and engages leadership through engaging and persuasive interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment with cross-functional teams and demonstrated success in leveraging subject matter experts across the organization.
- Effectively guides the delivery of commercialization strategy and plans, utilizing strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
Preferred:
- MBA or business strategy consulting experience preferred.
- Preference for candidates with experience and proven success in the development and launch of innovative minimally invasive devices in the US market.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position in this location is $137,657.00 - $192,722.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
