Job Description

Ideal candidate will support R&D product development and marketing activities by machining complex components and assemblies. Accountable for set up and program of milling machines for  complex 2, 3, and 4 axis parts and surfaces in metal and plastic. To assist and or aid in the development design functionality of prototypes, fixtures, and making of new components.

Job Duties

* Program, debug, and machine complex 2, 3, and 4 axis components for R&D prototypes and fixtures.


* Design and assemble fixtures for product assembly and testing.


* Collaborate with engineers to discern true design intent from sketches with minimal instruction or input prior to constructing new components that meet the required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.


* Perform work with limited to no supervision and exercise considerable latitude in completing assignments.


* Prioritize multiple jobs and manage customer expectations.


* Act as a liaison with outside vendors for materials ordering equipment and stock ordering.


* Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures and regulations.


* Responsible for administrating purchase orders for machine shop and lab environment.


* Learn understand and recommend new fabrication methods and operate new technology equipment as needed. Consult with and advise Engineering on technical questions pertaining to machining concepts and product design. Attend training classes regularly to maintain and improve skills aligned with new technologies.


* Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements



* High School diploma or graduate from certified technical school.


* Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in a machine shop with minimum 5 years of experience working in a prototype machine shop environment. (* Less experience accepted if required skills can be proven.)


* Must have the ability to work onsite in our Westborough, MA facility.




* Must have a high level of proficiency at reading engineering drawings and working with engineers to understand true design intent of component and or assemblies. Requires a track record of success of machining components from sketches and verbal input from engineers. Ability to suggest process improvements and advise on best practices for engineering product design.


* High level of proficiency using SolidWorks CamWorks and Microsoft Office Suite file transfer data storage turning Machines and 3 and 4 axis CAM software preferred.


* Experience in programming and running 3 axis and 4 axis CNC Milling and working  knowledge of SolidWorks 3D Solid Modelling software CamWorks preferred Demonstrated experience with Haas and Prototrax programming also preferred.


* Expense and account reconciliation experience preferred.
