Job Description
The Senior Director Corporate Strategy is a key leadership role responsible for developing and implementing Olympus Medical’s corporate strategy, driving portfolio optimization, and identifying opportunities for growth, particularly in healthy, high-growth markets that increase the company's Weighted Average Market Growth Rate (WAMGR) and basis points. This role provides strategic direction and insights to the executive leadership team, enabling informed decision-making and sustainable competitive advantage. This role will lead key parts of the global strategic planning processes, conduct market and competitive analysis, evaluate potential acquisitions and partnerships, and oversee the strategy that guides the company's investment portfolio. The person will collaborate directly with Executive Officers and Business Unit leaders to align strategic initiatives with corporate goals and ensure effective execution. This role must ensure alignment between strategic goals and operational execution across departments. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the MedTech industry, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams. This person must be a thought leader and change agent who fosters innovation and boldly drives business transformation in the direction of Olympus goals and aspirations.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement Olympus Medical’s corporate strategic plan, aligning with the company's mission, vision, and long-term objectives, with a focus on investments in healthy, high-growth markets to increase WAMGR and basis points (20%).
- Lead the top-down planning, integration, approval and communication stages of the annual strategic planning process, including market analysis, competitive assessment, and identification of growth opportunities (15%). This will require direct engagement, collaboration and facilitation of decision making with the executive officers throughout the year, including the safe handling of extremely confidential company information.
- Partner with Corporate Portfolio Management to analyze, advise and manage the company's investment portfolio, optimizing investments and resource allocation to maximize return on investment (15%).
- Lead the process of identification of strategies that can drive growth, including organic and inorganic initiatives, with a focus on opportunities in healthy, high-growth markets that can increase the company’s WAMGR and basis points. This includes building an inorganic growth plan that defines target markets, acquisition criteria, and potential transaction structures (10%).
- Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, participating in due diligence when required and perform financial analysis to assess feasibility and value. This includes financial modeling, valuation analysis, and integration strategies (15%). Ensure a clear set of enterprise priorities that ties to company strategy is rooted in our inorganic plans and BD resource allocations.
- Collaborate with Business Unit leaders to ensure alignment of strategic initiatives with corporate goals and effective execution of strategic plans (10%).
- Perform adjacency analysis to identify new value pools and potential market adjacencies for the company (5%).
- Present strategic recommendations and business cases for new business opportunities to the executive leadership team, supporting informed decision-making and resource allocation (5%).
- Conduct market research and competitive intelligence to identify emerging trends, threats, and opportunities in the MedTech industry. Analyses will include market sizing, competitive landscape assessments, and technology trend evaluations (5%).
Job Qualifications
Required:
- BS Degree in Engineering or Business. Advanced Business degree highly preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years work experience in the Medical Device Industry.
- Proven experience in Strategic Marketing, Corporate Strategy, Portfolio Management.
- Strong preference given to a candidate with multi-function experience including business development and downstream marketing.
- Must demonstrate strategic capabilities with strengths in critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills; financial and strategic.
- Strong people leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing cross functional and multi-site teams.
- Ability to manage multiple departments, initiatives and competing priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment. Experience working in a global organization across multiple cultures is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in financial modeling and WAMGR analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex strategies and their financial impact.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, aligning them with strategic goals related to growth and WAMGR.
- Deep understanding of financial modeling and valuation techniques, with a focus on WAMGR and basis point analysis.
- Proficiency in market analysis and competitive intelligence, with expertise in identifying high-growth markets.
- Knowledge of MedTech industry trends and regulatory environment.
- Expertise in adjacency analysis, inorganic strategy at the enterprise level, and new business strategy development.
- Ability to work effectively in a global, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Approximately 30% travel is required, including international.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position is $186,949.00 - $280,424.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). This pay range represents the National Average of the range, and may vary depending on the location of the individual.
Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position, including level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
