Job Description

The SVP of Corporate Strategy will be responsible for serving on behalf of the CEO and the Global Executive Committee to develop the holistic Corporate Strategy across Olympus. This includes the Corporate Strategic Plan CSP for a 5 year term inclusive of Divisional Business Strategies, Functional and Regional Strategies with associated financials. The position will report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer.

As a newly focused Global MedTech Olympus current Corporate Strategic Planning process is fragmented. Our strong ambition to Elevate the Standard of Care in diseases of focus must be well mapped and aligned with our operational plans and investments at every level of the organization. As our head strategist, this individual will be tasked to shape the vision and cascade it down effectively to the entire organization. This will include designing the future vision for a holistic annual Corporate Strategic and Portfolio Management Process that will establish our mid and long term key areas of focus and investment. 

This individual will directly lead the Global Strategy, Divisional Strategy & Portfolio Management Team,  and the Global Target Operating Model (GTOM) Excellence and Delivery team. The GTOM effort is an has a mandate as integral enabler of the Corporate Strategy coordinating efforts around organizational design, enabling skills, capabilities and technologies, governance and business processes across Divisions, Functions, and Regions.

Job Duties

  • Recruit, develop and retain talent within the Corporate Strategy team and sub functions to minimize the reliance on external consulting & amplify functional and regional skills.
  • Responsible for the design and development of the Corporate Strategy Annual Process and effective transfer of the process and governance to Corporate Planning team once in-flight.
  • In collaboration with CFO team develop the financial process linkages and tools to effectively stand up and scale the linkage to the 5-year strategic plan & annual Corporate Portfolio Management Process.
  • Directs and leads the Global Target Operating Model team empowered to lead companywide consistent efforts around org design, governance, process, capabilities and tools.
  • In collaboration with the Global Head of Business Development, establish mechanisms to embed new business development into our Corporate Strategy cycle.
  • Consistent and proactive communication cadence with Investor Relation Team and Corporate Communications to plan input and recommendations for external milestones and events.
  • In collaboration with CFO and CSO recommend financial targets and issue key reporting metrics and dashboards to ensure alignment across the enterprise.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Business. Advanced Business degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of work experience in the Medical Device Industry.
  • Proven experience in Strategic Marketing, Corporate Strategy, and Portfolio Management
  • Strong preference given to a candidate with multi-function experience including business development and downstream marketing.

  • Must demonstrate strategic capabilities with strengths in critical thinking and innovative problem solving skills; financial and strategic.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing cross functional and multi-site teams.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to persuasively deliver presentations to all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent decision making skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and negotiate across functions and with all levels of the organization with experience and the ability to drive and influence change.
  • Ability to manage multiple departments, initiatives and competing priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time.
  • Experience working in a global organization across multiple cultures is a plus.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $295,472.00 - $472,754.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
