Job Description

The Head of SUE Advanced Sourcing is a senior appointment which will have a major impact on growth and the opportunity to have a significant impact on achieving Single Use Endoscopy (SUE) financial and strategic goals. The position will lead the SUE Advanced Sourcing team to implement a process and tools to identify, evaluate and propose strategic suppliers throughout the product life cycle from prototypes, to start up plan through full scale launch.  The position will be a member of the SUE Cross Functional and Global Sourcing Leadership teams. This position will also be responsible for collaborating at a senior level globally and cross functionally in order to lead and drive project strategy and execution for SUE NPD projects from EOE to TDP and PDP Phases.

This position is responsible for providing NPD procurement leadership and support for regional OSTA PDP projects. This includes Collaborate and gain alignment with category management to select suppliers that can drive supplier enabled innovation to supplement internal capabilities.
Lead make or buy process and implement tools to determine preferred short- and long-term strategies Collaborate with Category leaders to develop, execute and maintain procurement strategies
Collaborate with SUE cross functionally; R&D / PMO to create, implement supplier selection and evaluation best practices Mitigate technical risk in early stage of NPD collaborating with R&D, manufacture core technology, VA/VE, advanced sourcing, supplier quality and category management.
Development of cost saving in NPD projects, especially in early stage of NPD projects collaborating with manufacture core technology, VA/VE, Finance and category management. 
This position is responsible for creating a scalable, global SUE supply chain strategy to enable prototypes, supply start up plant and ensure scalable global supply chain for ramp production high volume plant.

Job Duties

  • Achieving all functional EOE/TDP/PDP deliverables.
  • Creating and leading a team of core team members on the project teams accountable for achieving project deliverables and milestones. 
  • Create, implement and lead implementation of new processes and capabilities.
  • Working with category leaders, manage advanced supplier searches focused on technology enhancements, increased capabilities and overall better supplier performance.
  • Proactively participate, lead and support steering committee meetings when required to support PDP teams with other functional leaders.
  • Manage and lead local Advanced Sourcing Managers and Component Engineers by providing direction relative to NPD buyer management.
  • Lead robust make vs buy analysis regionally and globally.
  • Provide external partner selection and management during NPD / PDP projects including raw material, component, finish device, GPSP (Distributed Devices) and product development solution providers.
  • Manage department performance aligned to department KPI’s.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • BS/ BA degree required in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or complimentary field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Procurement experience is a must.
  • Minimum of 7 years of management experience is a must.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supporting NPD in the medical device industry is a must.

  • Strategic mind-set and hands-on approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g. R&D, Quality, Operations, Suppliers).
  • Persuasive presenter and facilitator with the ability to engage and gain support throughout senior management team and with junior team members.
  • Ability to condense and present complex information to key personnel in meaningful reports and presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and all functional areas.
  • Strong results orientation and ability to quickly establish priorities.
  • Team-player.
  • Good technical understanding.
  • Good English language skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is  -  / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
