Job Description

This position will lead the Global Customer Solutions Business (“GCSB”) for Olympus.  The leader will define the global vision and strategy for the GCSB to align with and support ESD and Therapeutic Solution (TSD) Division BU strategies for GI, Surgical Endoscopy and other Olympus Medical BU’s and to deliver targeted revenue and profitability. The GCSB Leader will lead Digital Solutions and System Integration product plans and execution globally to achieve organizational objectives in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.  The role will directly contribute to and align with the Olympus Digital Strategy and Digital Unit. The position reports to the Head(s) of the Endoscopic Solutions Division and will be a member of the ESD Global Senior Leadership Team. A dotted line reporting relationship will include the President, OSTA.

Job Duties

* Achieves business targets of Global Customer Solutions Business.
 

* Directs and leads GCSB extended Executive Committee consisting of divisional, MBC, SBC and functional representatives.
 

* Leads the strategic planning process for GCSB to ensure alignment with overall strategic goals of the organization, including both short and long-range plans.
 

* Formulates and maintains long-term strategy and product road map for the GCSB business and associated Software solutions and ICT related technology globally.
 

* Monitors the global market and identifies opportunities for inorganic growth in support of GCSB strategic objectives.  Initiates/sponsors Business Development projects for the GCSB in alignment with the Global Business Development function and process.
 

* Leads global commercialization activities for the introduction of new products and services within GCSB including: SI Platform, Cloud/IOT Platform, and Applications Software.
 

* Ensures that systems are in place to support the overall strategic needs of the business and improves overall efficiency, reporting and analytical requirements.
 

* Accountable for establishing policies and procedures that support the strategic direction and corporate governance, as well as compliance with applicable financial, employment and other regulations.
 

* Maintains close partnerships, alignment and communications with leadership in Tokyo, with key functional leads and with SBC’s, travelling to Tokyo and other Olympus locations to participate in meetings as needed.
 

* As a member of the Global ESD Leadership Team, leads/supports/contributes to ESD governance such as the Strategic Business Planning process, the Portfolio Advisory Board, etc.
 

* Provides effective management of team members.

 

* Ensures team members are being developed to assume greater responsibility, as appropriate. Maintains a positive work environment that fosters teamwork and encourages open and positive discussions among team members.
 

* Contributes to and supports cross-organizational initiatives in areas such as the Digital Unit, Go to Market projects and others, as required.
Promotes and reinforces the Olympus values.

 

* Ensures compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements and the Olympus governance system.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineer or Computer Science is required.

 

* Minimum of 15 years progressive business experience with proven strategic program leadership and strategic capabilities in medical device environment.

 

* Minimum 10 years Medical Technology experience required, particularly in medical devices, software solutions, AI-based solutions.

 

* Minimum 5 years senior leadership, leading teams to deliver results; leading complex initiatives

 

* Domestic and International travel required, typically averaging 25% of the year but there may be periods of more concentrated travel or longer business trips than a week required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Master’s Business Administration (MBA) degree preferred.

 

* Excellent verbal and written communications.

 

* Proven ability to select, retain and develop a team of senior leaders and to recognize employee issues and act on them with a sense of urgency.  

 

* Proven strategic planning ability. Knowledge of applicable regulations.

 

* Strong negotiations and persuasion skills with the ability to provide coaching and guidance to executive leadership.
