Job Description

The Director GI EndoTherapy Global Product Marketing will help contribute to creating the vision and mission of the Gastrointestinal EndoTherapy (GI-ET) Device Business. This will include close collaboration with the Strategic Marketing Team of the ET Business Unit, Regional Sales Business Units, and Regional Manufacturing Business Centers to develop, implement, and align strategies and tactics focused on the successful commercial launch penetration, and profitability of the overall business. The candidate will also be directly leading the Global Marketing teams in OSTA and OSTE in the identification of future business opportunities, unmet customer needs creation, and commercial justification of our product road map including the evaluation of potential product and technology transfer from Tokyo and the life cycle management strategy of our legacy platforms. These activities will all inform the priorities for R&D development and early-stage research as well as the charter for manufacturing/OEM partnerships as it pertains to sustaining cost saving and manufacturing technology efforts. The candidate will need to focus heavily on building and in some cases improving skills sets and capabilities across the global department. Some of the key areas of focus include forging strong partnerships with Healthcare Professionals within the worldwide Endoscopy community, expertise in identification of user requirements, interpretation of Voice of Customer feedback, and clinical knowledge value proposition and health economic awareness, business case development, and the execution of global strategies. The Marketing Director will lead the team in developing a comprehensive understanding of market needs market trends competitive forces and disruptive technologies.

Job Duties

* Responsible for managing the EndoTherapy Early-Stage Marketing team in US and Europe and ultimately executing with a close working relationship with the OSTA R&D Team the OT Liaison Team in US and close collaboration with other Global MBCs.

 

* Interact with other Olympus Manufacturing Business Centers to coordinate all global product road maps ensuring strategic fit alignment prioritization and resource allocation.

 

* Through extensive external research (both primary and secondary market information) the Director of Marketing is expected to manage Strategic products/projects through the stage gate process.

 

* Lead a team to identify market needs and corresponding solution opportunities.

 

* Recruit hire train motivate and lead direct reports to deliver on key objectives consistent with annual business plan and corporate initiatives driving the execution of key deliverables within the new product development process & ensuring successful product launches across all global geographies.

 

* Develop and maintain expertise across the ET Upstream team as the product and clinical specialists by attending procedures courses workshops tradeshows and staying abreast of market dynamics competitive landscape and global industry changes and advancements.

 

* Work closely with the Market Development Team Market Intelligence Clinical and HEOR to ensure strong strategic alignment for key projects.

 

* Develop & cultivate strong relationships with surgeon and clinician product champions who will influence broader market acceptance of Olympus products across our specialties.

 

* For early-stage opportunity evaluations Business Development Diligence efforts and/or high complexity/impact projects either act as a core team member or stay intimately close to the project to ensure adequate coverage and direction.

 

* Closely collaborate with downstream marketing counterparts at worldwide Olympus sales business centers to track and evaluate product performance and sales post product launch monitoring market feedback sales patterns against forecast complaints supply chain targets lagging regional registrations etc.

 

* Set the strategy and prioritization for life cycle management and sustaining activities to be in alignment with ET Business Unit Strategic Executive Director and the ET-BU Deputy BU Leader.

 

* All Other Essential Duties as directed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's Degree required. Master's strongly preferred.

 

* Minimum of 15 years total of Business Experience (R&D Downstream Upstream Sales).

 

* Minimum 5 years of experience in medical device Upstream Marketing preferably in a Global role.

 

* Ability to travel within the domestic U.S & Internationally.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Endoscopy area of expertise and working industry knowledge preferred.

 

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to different audiences including experience presenting to Executive Management Teams.

 

* Strong leadership skills with proven ability to effectively manage a team.

 

* Excellent influence facilitation and problem solving skills.

 

* Proven experience leading early stage development teams including development of business case financial modelling reimbursement value proposition.

 

* Strong analytical skills; with demonstrated financial and strategic capabilities.

 

* Expertise in user requirement identification customer input VOC & market research.

 

* Strong clinical knowledge and aptitude; comfortable in working with physicians in an operating room and clinician office environment.

 

* Self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and a drive for results.

 

* Highly effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift responding well under pressure and demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance
