Job Description

This role is responsible for providing business partnership to R&D global R&D Leaders (GIET and Others) as well as enhancing R&D financial processes, strengthening business cases and enabling efficient decision-making at the global basis. The incumbent will possess the ability to drive financial analysis and strategic insights to prioritize the related R&D portfolio to achieve Olympus’s long-term strategic and financial aspirations, and ensure that the same prioritized R&D portfolio is executed successfully on-time and within budget. The incumbent will be responsible for the R&D Function global costs of the same technology organizations totalling 100+ Oku annually spanning over 50 projects from standpoint of tracking/reporting, and budget/forecasting.

 

Job Duties

  • Drive successful achievement of the budgets for gross R&D spend for global R&D portfolios (GIET, AEI, Innovation, etc) in partnership with Global R&D leadership teams through effective forecast, actual tracking and control process.
  • Lead the annual budget and LRP of R&D gross/net spend and develop the budget that supports the execution of strategic priorities and comply with the Targets.
  • Develop the mitigation plan with business partners in case of foreseen shortfall vs. short term or long term financial commitment.
  • Support the global governance of investment portfolio covering 50+ projects through: gPAB (Global Project Approval Board) and SBP (Strategic Business Planning). Provide key Finance observations and recommendations for initiatives presented in PABs and SBPs to optimize decision-making process of the Approval Board Members.
  • Build and maintain complex financial simulations (P&L and Cash) that helps business partners in validating the financial viability of the proposed strategic investment portfolio in partnership with cross-functional teams, inclusive of revenue projections in partnership with Business Unit & Strategy teams.
  • Work with accounting to ensure the proper capitalization of R&D investment, review capitalization balance periodically and develop comprehensive model to pressure test the capitalization balance to minimize any impairment.
  • Provide the necessary finance support to ensure timely launch of projects critical to strategic sales growth.
  • Proactively increase rigor and enhance processes to create standardization, efficiency, and better global communication, in partnership with Portfolio R&D global leaders.
  • Lead and/or assist with ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Finance, FP&A, R&D Finance, or Process Improvement roles in large global company.
  • Proven experience improving financial processes, systems, or workflows.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and financial controls.
  • Must possess ability to proactively assess and improve current processes.
  • Must have prior Portfolio Finance experience with proven strategic business partnership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced ever-changing and evolving work environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and financial tools; strong Excel and data-analysis capability.
  • Exhibits emotional intelligence to gain engagement and influence key stakeholders.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position in this location is $106,374.00 - $152,273.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
