Job Description

The Executive Director of Strategic Marketing is a key member of the global GI-ET BU leadership team and will support BU leaders to manage P/L to achieve revenue target as well as profit target.

 

The Executive Director of Strategic Marketing will lead the strategy development and execution for the overall GI-ET BU, including global upstream product marketing strategies. Will drive growth by identifying new or expanding market opportunities for Olympus products and creating proposals and strategies for optimizing those opportunities. Will collaborate with cross-functional team and function across the globe and lead initiatives to drive our business objectives.

Job Duties

* Support the GI-ET Business Unit Leader to create the vision and mission of the ET-BU, as well as layout the overall Global Portfolio Strategy and Strategic 5 year plan to successfully achieve targets.

 

* Support the Business Unite Leader to achieve long term financial performance of the BU. Determine the BU’s arenas of competition, the sources of differentiation, the vehicles to be utilized, the economics that underlie investment & the sequencing of activity.

 

* Drive financial performance of business with priority of improving top line results. Align BU portfolio strategy with SBC commercial capabilities & strategies.

 

* Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant growth opportunities. Develop short and long-term strategies for key global markets looking beyond the existing product portfolio.

 

* Through extensive external research (both primary and secondary market information) the Strategic Marketing Executive Director is expected to lead the development of early stage business cases and project proposals as well as setting the direction for the Global Product Marketing team and R&D Discovery teams to ensure resource allocation is coordinated with business growth opportunities that aligned with the strategy.

 

* In collaboration with Business Development, identify potential areas and companies for strategic partnership, distribution, or M&A activity.

 

* Engage with Olympus R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing to coordinate global product road maps ensuring strategic fit, alignment, and prioritization.

 

* Responsible for the strategic leadership of identifying and developing longer term opportunities that provide competitive advantage through marketing.

 

* Seen as the Therapeutics Solutions Division representative for the Business Segment in the Strategic Business Planning meetings, Global Product Approval Board Meetings, and Business Unit Meetings, influencing and driving the development of the associated long term system level strategy, road map and commercial plan (capital and devices developed throughout Olympus). Strong collaboration and influencing with the Endoscopic Solutions Division will be required.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a related field is required. Advanced degree/MBA preferred.

 

* Minimum of 10 years of total experience in sales and/or marketing

 

* Extensive experience in establishing and managing annual and long-term commercial business plan as a key leader with strong preference in healthcare. 

 

* Experience in mid-term to long-term strategy development and strategy management

 

* Experience marketing products to healthcare professionals including product launch and lifecycle management.

 

* Experience managing people with demonstrated ability to identify, hire, direct, motivate and develop talent.

 

*  Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

* Ability to develop and execute business strategy by managing global team and functions.

 

* Strong planning and organizational skills.

 

* Ability to motivate cross-functional resources in a matrix environment to drive business results.

 

* Ability to hire, manage, train and develop a marketing team.

 

* Excellent interpersonal, communication and group presentation skills.

 

* Deep knowledge of the Medical Device market place.
