Job Description

The Executive Director, Global Product Marketing for GI EndoTherapy Business Unit is a part of global senior leadership team within BU and is responsible for developing pipeline opportunities and execute the portfolio of initiatives. This will include identifying the overall strategy and associated requirements to be successful at growing Olympus share in and continuing to grow as a global player in the GI devices space. This will include heavy collaboration with HCP, R&D, Manufacturing Business Centers and Regional Sales Business Units to develop and implement aligned strategies and tactics focused on the successful commercial launch penetration and profitability of the business. This person will manage a team of Product Managers and Senior Product Managers in US and Europe. 


The candidate will be directly leading a Global Product Marketing team focused on new product and sustaining initiatives. This includes identification of future business opportunities including inorganic growth, unmet customer needs, value proposition, commercialization plans and launch activities. Activities also encompass the life cycle management of legacy products. 


The candidate will need to focus heavily on building skill sets and capabilities across the department. Some of the key areas of focus include forging strong partnerships with global Healthcare Professionals, expertise in identification of user requirements, voice of customer feedback, clinical knowledge, value proposition, health economic awareness, business case development and the execution of global strategies.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for developing key strategies the GI-ET BU to serve all Global Markets. 
  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive understanding of market needs, market trends, competitive forces and disruptive technologies globally for the GI space.
  • Business case development and project/initiative proposals from diligence discovery and early stage research projects as well as setting the direction for R&D. 
  • Collaborate with PMO teams to ensure resource allocation is coordinated with business growth opportunities that align with the strategy. 
  • Serve as GI-ET ­BU expert in business unit meetings influencing and driving the development of the associated long-term system level strategy road map and commercial plan.
  • Serve as a key window person for the GI-ET BU marketing team for products within his/her area of responsibility in all management discussions boards, regional and global meetings. 
  • Close collaboration with regional downstream marketing teams. 
  • Develop and maintain expertise across the GI-ET Global Marketing team as the product and clinical specialist by attending procedures, courses, workshops, tradeshows and staying abreast of market dynamics competitive landscape and global industry trends. 
  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate and lead direct reports to deliver on key objectives consistent with annual business plan and corporate initiatives driving the execution of key deliverables within the new product development process & ensuring successful product launches across all global geographies. 
  • Lead and train team members and cross-functional support members in customer input market research activities (user needs identification, value proposition, prototype evaluations, focus groups etc.) throughout the different stages of the projects. 
  • Lead and train team members and regional partners in the development of global commercialization plans and global product launches (value proposition clinical evidence publications HEOR pricing analysis marketing collateral training materials service etc.). 
  • For early stage and/or high complexity/impact projects either act as a core team member or stay intimately close to the project to ensure adequate coverage and direction. 
  • Set the strategy and prioritization for life cycle management and sustaining activities monitoring market feedback and sales patterns against forecast, complaints, supply chain etc. 

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or a related field is required. Masters or MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of total experience in sales and/or marketing.
  • Experience marketing products to healthcare professionals including product launch and lifecycle management.
  • Experience managing people with demonstrated ability to identify, hire, direct, motivate and develop talent.
  • Must be able to travel internationally and domestically 25% of the time.

 

Preferred:

  • Deep knowledge of the Medical Device market place.
  • Experience managing direct reports within a marketing organization.
  • Ability to hire, manage, train and develop a marketing team.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute business strategy by directing team and resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and group presentation skills including interactions with sales and senior customer personnel.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects to successful completion.
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to motivate cross-functional resources in a matrix environment to drive business results
  • Strong business acumen with ability to translate market insights to business strategy and plans.
  • Excellent judgment and decision making with demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop direct reports by establishing clear direction, setting appropriate goals and providing appropriate direction.
  • Builds effective teams by creating strong morale and a culture of high performance.
  • Ability to clearly communicate business strategies and results to senior management.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $182,390.00 - $273,584.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
