Job Description

The Design System Lead is responsible for setting and executing the design vision of a customer product. They will be responsible for advocating and championing the customer needs, designing frictionless customer journeys and propositions based on an intimate understanding of the end customer needs and desires for products.

 

The Design System Lead maintains and evolves the Digital Unit's design system (including style guide) and principles and ensures that all products are aligned to it. They work closely with the Head of Product and designers on the Agile Product Teams to constantly improve the Digital Unit's design practice and ensure that all design work is consistent and in line with the Digital Unit’s brand and visual language.

Job Duties

* Lead the creation of a beautiful and functional system that is used across the whole product design portfolio.

 

* Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business goals into unique product experiences and represent design system values and technicalities to the whole organization.

 

* Lead the overall customer journey design with simple, data-driven and user-centric experiences that delight the end users of each customer interaction.

 

* Conduct product and user experience research to inform visual design user requirements.

 

* Lead the visual and technical direction of the experience design, visual style, and technical tooling, with input from product design and development teams.

 

* Report team and system progress regularly.

 

* Direct scope of systems concerns and relevant products to adopt it.

 

* Present the design system’s mission, library, and process to other groups, including Product Lead(s), Product Managers, QA, and other design and development roles throughout the organization. Oversight on Visual Development Activities.

 

* Oversee the creation of user interfaces of customer products and solutions.

 

* Collaborate with the development team, Product Lead(s), and Product Managers to guide creation of best-in-class user experience and design elements.

 

* Review library documents for design quality, consistency, and usefulness.

 

* Identify and nurture team growth and culture.

 

* Identify opportunities for team members to drive and lead system aspects.

 

* Other responsibilities / duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, Service Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent experiences.

 

* Minimum 5 years' working experience in UI/UX design and design thinking.

 

* Minimum 3 years' experience with leading product design.

 

* Proficiency with various design and prototyping tools (such as Figma, Sketch, Abstract, Marvel, Principle, Adobe After Effects), as well as knowledge of HTML and CSS.

 

* Experience aligning digital, business, and R&D leadership on product design decisions.

 

* Experience leading designers with ability to define user interface and experience parameters.

 

* Expert in UI/UX design and design systems.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Experience collaborating with users to inform product roadmap.

 

* Strong analytical and quantitative understanding.

 

* Significant proficiency in front-end development lifecycle and timeline.

 

* Experience in Agile Development, with product design (or similar) experience preferred.

 

* Familiar with cross-functional agile teams including experience working with product owners, project leads, and development team.

 

* Experience aligning digital, business, and R&D leadership on product design decisions.

 

* Experience leading designers with ability to define user interface and experience parameters.

 

* Strong understanding of customer journey mapping, service design and design thinking approaches.

 

* A deep understanding of the end-to-end iterative UX process (personas, scenarios, wireframing, and high-fidelity visuals).
