Job Description

The Medical Brand Strategy and Communications Lead will drive Olympus’s medical umbrella brand building. They will be the highly regarded consultant and trailblazer for all medical umbrella brand topics. As such, they will closely cooperate with divisional stakeholders as well as the global medical Marketing Agency and Corporate Communications teams to define and develop the medical umbrella brand value proposition and set the strategy how to communicate it accordingly. They will have global responsibility for developing and implementing medical umbrella brand communications measures. The Medical Brand Strategy and Communications Lead will guide the regional marketing communications teams with regards to regional adoption and customization of global medical brand content. Relevant stakeholders will receive guidance on how to incorporate umbrella branding into their marketing and communication measures.

Job Duties

* Define and develop the medical umbrella brand value proposition in close cooperation with the global medical leadership team and set the strategy how to communicate it accordingly.

 

* Provide strong brand consultancy within the overall medical strategy development and evolution, including analysis of competition brand positionings.

 

* Represent and drive umbrella brand perspective within the Digital Customer Experience program.

 

* Drive umbrella brand communications measures for the key stakeholder segments of healthcare providers and payors, patients and employees and other relevant stakeholders.

 

* Collaborate with the Marketing Agency, the Corporate Communications team and external agencies to create umbrella brand content, campaigns and materials.

 

* Collaborate with global Corporate Communications as well as divisional stakeholders on PR messaging and issue management for reputation management.

 

* The above will then be directed for further execution by the regions with guidance on the level of regional customization.

 

* Budget and allocate resources for umbrella brand communication.

 

* Closely collaborate with the medical comms leadership team to evolve and improve the overall functional operating model.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field required.  Master's degree or other applicable post-graduate degree preferred.

 

* Minimum of 10 years of combined professional experience in senior expert or leadership positions fin brand, marketing, communications or reputation management, within a leading brand, agency or strategy consulting firm. It is required that a significant part of this experience was gained within B2B and ideally within medical devices.

 

* Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

* Strong seniority presence with good relationship-building and interpersonal skills.

 

* Expertise of brand strategy/management and reputation management methodology and techniques.

 

* Strong experience in sourcing and leading internal or external brand communication resources.

 

* Highly skilled in collaborating with different internal stakeholder groups, including senior and executive management.  

 

* Ability to work closely with the various specialists, especially cross-functional teams and external vendors, involved with the development and execution of marketing communication strategies. 

 

* Wholistic understanding of business strategy: Pronounced unifier (i.e. being able to integrate the perspective of all relevant internal stakeholders), customer centric and ROI mindset.

 

* Experience working within or for a regulated industry such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical products/devices required.  International experience working within a large, multinational company with diverse groups of stakeholders is strongly preferred.

 

* Passion for operating the medical communications function, defining and evolving organization operating model, service offering and delivery framework.

 

* Solid understanding of current life sciences industry dynamics and trends and demonstrated contribution to thought leadership.

 

* Excellent written and oral communication, fluent in English
