Job Description
This position will identify and develop new product opportunities within the endoscopy product franchise considered to be extensions of current products and services for the US market. The primary focus includes but is not limited to future business opportunities identification of customer needs assessment of product gaps management of the pre- commercialized product evaluations process verification and validation of product concepts support for regulatory compliance as needed (e.g.: 510(k) PMA) and identification of clinical and economic value propositions. The position closely collaborates with R&D and global marketing at Olympus Medical Systems Japan and local RA/QA and downstream marketing teams to establish potential for revenue profit and market share through assessment of unmet customer needs which can lead to possible product commercialization.
Job Duties
- Directs upstream activities related to MSG Endoscopy products for local SBC market (US) including GI and Pulmonary imaging platforms Endo Capsule CDS EUS/EBUS (future expansion) and IT (collaboration with SDC).
- Develops of imaging platform strategy and product roadmap as a member of the product planning Strategy-Comm.
- Supports lifecycle management of relevant portfolio products through collaboration with local SBC downstream marketing teams and Olympus Global marketing.
- Leads voice of customer activities (e.g.: focus groups) and product concept validation and verification (e.g.: pre-commercialized product evaluations) with healthcare provider experts to gather critical details that will contribute to new product proposals the development of user requirements and the refinement of product specifications.
- Identifies establishes and nurtures appropriate working relationships with health care professionals in an effort to create and influence broader market acceptance of Olympus products.
- Serves as the primary contact for escalated customer support issues which are elevated through the Directors of (Downstream) Product Marketing or Sales Leadership.
- Develops effective working relationships with counterpart in SDC upstream marketing to ensure that future product definition is appropriately representative of IT-related customer needs.
- Defines and provides the necessary support for the OAI MSG downstream marketing teams and the OCA International business units for Canada and Latin America to transition and launch new products into their local markets.
- Develops the training programs and materials to effectuate/facilitate train the trainer sessions to SBC personnel on new product launches. This includes being the primary owner of training content development and delivering training to Directors of (Downstream) Product Marketing Sales Trainers Technical Trainers and Service Trainers.
- Acknowledges and follows the necessary guidelines of each sales subsidiary's product commercialization / launch process which includes developing a process to provide expertise to the commercial product managers recommending strategies and tactics that highlight the advanced clinical utilities of these technologies creating and presenting product-training materials and tracking and evaluating product performance post-launch launch.
- Identifies the need for clinical studies for upcoming product releases based on knowledge of user base requirements and demonstrates the strategic value of such studies so that in collaboration with Clinical Affairs the clinical study requirements may be developed and deployed.
- Identify suitable physicians to participate in clinical studies and identify HCPs in all market segments to publish white papers and case studies as required.
- Perform other related duties as needed and as directed.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree is required in Engineering Science or related field. An advanced degree (MS or MBA) is preferred in addition to relevant marketing experience.
- Ten years of experience in medical device marketing engineering or sales is required.
- Ability to travel 25 – 40% of time (including International travel).
Preferred:
- Clinical training and experience are essential.
- Proven capability to engage successfully and appropriately with healthcare professionals is essential.
- Strong clinical knowledge and aptitude; effective in working with physicians.
- Strong technical aptitude; effective in working with engineers scientists and other technicians.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; effective in explaining complex concepts.
- Aptitude and experience in promoting concepts and influencing decisions with senior level management; internal and external stakeholders.
- Comfortable in presenting to groups; large and small internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective people management skills.
- Strong analytical skills; technical financial and strategic.
- Collaborative team leader.
- Self-motivated individual with proven track record of meeting goals.
