Job Description


The Director, Global Market Analytics and Center of Excellence, is a key leadership position within the Global Market Intelligence and Customer Insights (GMCI) team. The candidate will be responsible for providing strategic vision, leadership and implementation of market analytics, business intelligence, as well as standardized market intelligence and customer insight delivery and process.


The candidate works closely with other function leaders in GMCI to support stakeholders in Therapeutic Solution Division (TSD), Endoscopic Solution Division (ESD), and Corporate functions to attain actionable insights on market landscape, competitive intelligence, customer dynamics, and business insights.


As the leader for both Analytics and Center of Excellence, the candidate will articulate the strategic road map for data and analytics and drive a coordinated effort to improve their application to support strategic initiatives and decision making. This role will combine a subject-matter expert knowledge of techniques in data and analytics with solid business acumen and strong project management. It will necessitate a focus on innovative approaches, driving a standardized GMCI delivery process, and championing initiatives to optimize GMCI team collaboration and operation. In addition, this role will develop strategic partnership with leaders within GMCI and across the entire enterprise including Business Units, Marketing, Business Development, Sales, Health Economics, Finance, and other areas.


Reporting to the Executive Director of Global Market Intelligence and Customer Insights, the candidate is expected to build and manage a high-performance team with global resources.

Job Duties

* Develop overall Market Analytics & Center of Excellence team strategic vision, mission, roadmap, and priorities.


* Engage with GMCI leaders and business stakeholders to identify strategic needs where analytics can drive business value and transform business problems into analytical solutions. ·


* Partner with Health Economics, Finance, Marketing, Sales, and other teams across Olympus to develop data needs, define data architecture and governance, and set up and maintain a centralized database on global procedures, diseases, providers, products, customers, market and competitive parameters, etc.


* Lead analytics center of excellence and develop descriptive, predicative and prescriptive analytics with advanced data science and BI tools including visualization and dashboard.


* Apply advanced analytical techniques to develop market models, pricing analysis, market and customer mix, benchmarking, forecasting, business drivers, and other analytics.


* Develop assessments and insights on market and competitive landscape, social and economic trends, provider trends, global and regional dynamics.


* Support IR, business planning, business development, marketing and other strategic initiatives with market sizing development, opportunity identification, and market and competitive assessments.


* Conduct analysis on customer segmentation, journey mapping, value proposition, persona and transform insights to product and marketing recommendations.


* Carry out economic research and financial analysis on cost, revenue, margin, value and outcomes.


* Lead the development and implementation of an effective knowledge management process and build an integrated GMCI intelligence and analytics portal.


* Drive a standardized GMCI process including project development, tracking, and management to improve timely and efficient delivery of GMCI tasks.


* Lead, coach and develop a high-performance global team.

Job Requirements



* Bachelor’s degree in data science, mathematics, engineering, finance, economics, or related disciplines; MBA preferred


* Minimum of 10 years of experience in business analysis, business intelligence, market/customer intelligence, consulting, strategy, or equivalent area; preferably in the healthcare, medical device, or life sciences.


* Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in advanced analytics including working knowledge on SQL, ETL, database, Python or R, and data visualization tools such as Power BI.


* Minimum of 5 years project management experience.


* Minimum of 5 years of previous successful leadership experience.


* Travel <15% (domestic and international)




* Primary market research experience preferred.


* Self-starter, high commitment, and dedication with proactive mind-set.


* Demonstrated expertise in working with and advising senior leaders.


* Excellent presentation, public speaking and written communication skills.


* Ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity to achieve challenging goals.


* Strong executive presence and communication skills: capable of influencing and driving collaboration at all levels within the organization.


* Proven ability to influence key stakeholders as well as drive meaningful change and innovation.


* Advanced business acumen with mastery of business analytics, business case development, and financial analysis


* Ability to successfully lead and influence cross-functional and cross-cultural teams


* Exceptional organization skills and ability to respond quickly and accurately to requests and manage prioritization of competing priorities for the department
