Job Description
The Data Science Lead is responsible to champion collaborative ways of working to assist in building strong internal partnerships. They lead on the facilitation of discussions and consultations on all aspects of data analytics, including objectives, data source identification, analytics design, hypothesis formulation, statistical analysis executions, and interpretation across the Olympus organization. They bring an innovative mindset to the use of data and analytics and be a core contributor to providing analytic efficiencies and promoting company-wide data utilization across organizations.
The Data Science Lead is also responsible for leading and providing oversight of the Data Science team to formulate / deliver Olympus’ data science strategy in alignment with business strategy. They advocate the Data Science team’s engagement with various stakeholders to resolve complex problems using data analytics by drawing valuable insights from large datasets using effective technology and techniques. They also build a culture of continuous learning and ensure collaboration, and coordination.

Job Duties
* Lead the definition of Olympus’ Data Science strategy, processes, technologies, and controls.
* Lead the Data Science team and oversee the onboarding of new designs, execution and implementation of advanced data analytics tools and techniques.
* Apply a broad array of modelling skills including machine learning, deep learning, other advanced data techniques and traditional statistics to extract insights from structured and unstructured data sources.
* Actively participate and be able to manage projects in all stages of model development from data collection, data quality control, model building, model validation, testing and calibration.
* Collaborate with business departments in data collection, hypothesis formulation, statistical analysis executions, and interpretation.
* Translate business needs into data analytics concepts and vice versa.
* Bringing external trends and standards
* Translate data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning trends and technologies into execution.
* Champion the continuous learning of industry standards and new techniques/ tools to maximize the team’s competitive advantage.
* Lead, motivate, develop, and appraise team members so that their individual and collective performance is of the required standard and meets the current and future needs of the business.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree or higher in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, IT or other related fields (or equivalent and related experience preferred).
* Minimum 10 years of experience in data analytics and consulting focused on data analytics, or equivalent academic experience/course record. Extensive experience in implementing and executing data science initiatives, analysis, machine learning, and other statistical approaches.
* Minimum 8 years of experience in managing staff, including work review, performance reviews and day-to-day coaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in applying and executing deep learning, machine learning, and big data.
* Experience in leading a global team at a successful organization.
* Experience within the Life Sciences/ MedTech field (desirable to have).
* Demonstrable analytical and conceptual thinking.
* Detail orientated.
