Job Description

The Senior Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible to ensure all import and export regulations are properly followed, implement policies and procedures once developed, review and suggest improvements to policies and procedures as necessary and provide trade compliance support to all business divisions.

Job Duties

* Coordinate Import declarations and Customs approvals with Customs Broker.  Perform analysis and provide information and prepare any needed documentation pertaining to Section 301 applicability, FDA, TSCA, anti-dumping/countervailing duty applicability etc.


* Monitor export and import transactions, troubleshoot EEI filing with supply chain personnel and highlight any concerns to management, ensure proper records are kept in compliance with regulations and Olympus’ policies.


* Assist with the management of special programs such as FTA, duty drawback program and other cost saving initiatives including qualification and costs savings tracking and metrics.


* Work with our scientific solutions division to ensure proper HS and ECCN classification as well as country of origin determination.  Ensure our databases are updated with the proper information.


* Manage and maintain OCA Trade Compliance (Import/Export) work instructions and processes to ensure compliance to all relevant rules and regulations of the region and Olympus Corporate policies.


* Secure export licenses and import/export rulings whenever necessary.


* Grow compliance awareness within Olympus; identify training needs and work with manager to develop and provide training pertaining to import/export requirements.


* Coordinate strategic projects as assigned by management to improve efficiency and compliance.


* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



* Bachelor's degree in Business Degree/Business Administration/Supply Chain.  Relevant experience may be considered as substitution for degree.


*  Minimum 3 years of experience in Import/Export Regulations, additional a minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain, order management/ operations or logistics.


* U.S. Customs Broker License strongly preferred.


* Minimum 3 years of experience in Import/Export Regulations, additional 3-4 years of experience in Supply Chain, order management/ operations or logistics.


* Import process and broker liaison/ relation.


* Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing.


* Proficient with the Microsoft Office platform.  Must be able to analyze large amounts of data using excel.




* U.S. Customs Broker License strongly preferred.


* HS, ECCN Classification, County of Origin Analysis, Valuation.


* Familiarity with restricted party screening.


* Knowledge of U.S. Trade Regulations including regulations applicable to BIS, OFAC, DDTC, CFR 19, CFR 15 DDTC and the U.S. Census.
