Job Description

The Senior Technical Writer creates, develops, plans, writes, and edits operational instructional maintenance or test procedures for paper multimedia or web-based publication. They transform complex subject matter into easily understood documentation for target audiences. The position requires spending “hands-on” time learning how our products operate to accurately convey operational instructions in manuals to ensure safe and effective use of our products.

Job Duties

* Writing and revising technical user manuals maintenance manuals and procedures for new and existing products.

 

* Create or adapt designs screenshots and other visuals illustrating these manuals and technical documents.

 

* Evaluate and estimate the time required for the projects and provide estimated at its top and the Coordinator of projects of technical documentation.

 

* Conducts interviews with various users and technical staff to gather data for documentation.

 

* Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for non-technical and technical users.

 

* Working closely with product teams to develop manuals as products are being developed.

 

* Perform all tasks in accordance with the process established in the work flow management tool and document the projects progress in the tools provided for this purpose.

 

* Occasional travel to Canada (passport required).

 

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Requires minimum of a Bachelor's Degree.

 

* Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience writing end user documentation including a minimum of 5 years for technical products.

 

* Occasional travel to Canada (passport required).

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Proficiency in Framemaker is essential.

 

* Must also be a skilled user of Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat.

 

* Familiarity with documentation software applications such as screen capture (SOTI or equivalent).

 

* Drawing/imaging such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel PSP.

 

* Ability to shoot and process digital photos.

 

* Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision or successfully on a team.

 

* Must have good time-management skills the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and regularly meet assigned deadlines.
