Job Description

The Production Planner II will be responsible for planning Production work orders to meet the company's on-time delivery goals. This person works closely with Product Management, Manufacturing/Production, Production Engineering, Quality and Purchasing to mitigate and resolve capacity process and material constraints to the timely release of work orders. He/She monitors process of constraint resolution and facilitates when appropriate. The Production Planner II expedites work orders when necessary to meet customer delivery dates. Identifies and reports Production yields issues when abnormal or constraint to meeting on time delivery. This person also plans work orders in accordance with the master production schedule based on customer demand, follows-up on material availability for processing of kits and expediting of late deliveries, monitors production plans and design changes to ensure product availability and communicate material related problems back to the Planning Manager, and coordinates the resolution of material issues that prohibit the timely release of work orders which could include rejected and quality issues as required. The Production Planner's responsibilities also include maintaining accuracy of the companies ERP system for assigned Part IDs and understanding and executing on Engineering Change Notifications.

Job Duties

 

*  Manage the planning and expediting of work orders.

 

*  Manage scheduling activities that establish the sequence and timeframe of manufacturing work orders to the floor to meet demand requirements.

 

*  Monitor material and supply inventories through an established computer program and system to establish proper replenishment and stocking quantities.

 

*  Manage the communication between Commercial Operations and Production Floor regarding customer delivery requirements and changes.

 

*  Key contributor to Customer on Time Delivery Performance Metric.

 

·*  Develop and maintain a positive relationship with co-workers. 

 

*  Manage compliance to stock targets and implement corrective actions when out of alignment.

 

*  Facilitate crisp and concise meeting interactions that are effective at defining the constraints, identifying root cause, and identifying mitigation needed. 

 

*  Forecasting and demand management to drive the planning to the component level.

 

*  Drive mitigation for unresolvable capacity constraints (ie: headcount / equipment / raw material) & drive action item closure with cross functional stakeholders (Ops, Engineering, Procurement, Commodity Mgmt, Product Mgmt).

 

*  Act with urgency in establishing kitting, inbounds deliveries, and assembly.

 

*  Evaluate scheduling priorities needed to support fluctuating demands in sales for the product set they oversee; including collaboration cross functionally as required. 

 

*  Work with Buyer, Operations, Engineering and Management to provide solutions to problems in meeting the Production Plan to ensure that the Production Schedule is achieved.

 

*  Review and respond to expedites working with the customer service team and operations teams.

 

*  Cross-train on other product lines as needed & act as backup for other planners.

 

*  Manage other duties and projects as assigned.
 

Job Requirements

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

*  High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree is a plus.

 

*  5+ years' experience in manufacturing environment.

 

*  2-5+ years' experience as planner and master production scheduler.

 

*   Must be a highly organized self-managed individual who works well independently with minimum supervision and ability work fast paced environment.

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

*  Understanding of the basic principles and operations of ERP systems and the integration of company functions provided by an ERP system. ·

 

*  Understanding and evaluation of the contents and calculations on the MRP (supply vs. demand) display or report; including how safety stock influences calculations of projected on hand balances in MRP.

 

*  Ability to understand ECOs [Engineering Change Orders] Deviation Bills of materials and specification sheets.

 

*  Attentiveness to detail.

 

*  Computer Skills: All Microsoft Applications. Ability to work with technical data.

 

*  Working / intermediate skills related to data extraction, data analysis and use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

 

*   Champion Lean activities and support 5S Kaizen and continuous improvement activities.

 

*  Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills.

 

*  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
