Job Description

The Sales Applications Americas representative is responsible for leveraging strong sales, product,and application knowledge to the Olympus microscopy sales team in the Americas. Primary focus will be in the United States but you will also support Canada and Latin America. If working with a dynamic team of sales professionals and traveling throughout the Americas sounds appealing, this job is for you!


The incumbent will be part of a team that consists of proven microscope sales professionals with strong track records of success. He/she will focus on the Olympus Scientific Solutions Group (SSG) Life Science product line with specific product responsibilities that may include microscopes, CCD based imaging systems and software, and confocal/multi-photon microscopes. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for achieving financial targets for their assigned product line.

Job Duties

* Maintain departmental KPI performance by:
   - Maintain a minimum of 98% error free cases
   - Maintain or exceed individual KPI performance in line with company and departmental goals

*Provides accurate and timely delivery of the following to customers or internal staff associated to either service or sales workstreams. This would include but not be limited to:
   - Order management, including;
   - Price inquiries
   - Order acknowledgement
   - Quote application and completeness
   - Management of discontinuation items
   - Order pricing maintenance
   - Order status inquiry
   - Recall/Complaint processing


* Accurate logging of all customer related information and inquiries in associated ERP and Customer Service database according to the outlined process.

* Effectively manage the inflow of telephone contact to maintain optimal service of customer's needs and requests. 

* Timely response of telephone, fax and/or email inquiries and effectively assist external and internal customers with their individual requests.

* Effectively adhere to and utilize company and division policies and procedures to assist with problem resolution for customer inquiry.

* All other tasks and requests necessary to assist the Customer Service Team.

Perform other related duties and/or work as assigned.

Job Requirements



Bachelor's degree in natural, physical, or optical sciences required.


* Microscopy imaging experience required, specifically in optics, fluorescence, live cell applications, or clinical imaging experience.


* Travel regularly within a given territory. Significant travel - 50% or more




PHD in the life sciences preferred.


* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in high end capital equipment sales preferred.
