Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for improving manufacturing processes to increase output and reduce defect rates, variability, and cost. This is accomplished through designing custom tooling and equipment as well as testing and manipulating process parameters. They may also contribute to transitioning new products from the design phase to production. The engineer provides immediate response and resolution to equipment issues and product nonconformances on the production line.

Job Duties

*  Lead improvement projects on existing manufacturing processes for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.


*  Design custom tooling, machinery, and equipment for new manufacturing methods.


*  Validate processes and equipment, using statistical analysis, to confirm process control and capability.


*  Support commercial production lines by responding to equipment issues and product nonconformances.


*  Create and release manufacturing documents and perform training for assemblers.


*  Support early-stage builds (verification and First Human Use) by coordinating with production, materials, and engineering personnel to resolve product issues and ensure on-time completion.


*  Represent the manufacturing department on cross-functional project teams to communicate manufacturing needs and capabilities.


*  Monitor and trend critical parameters of the cleanroom environment.


*  Identify and interface with vendors who can provide technical products and services.


*  Adhere to the requirements of the company's Quality System and regulatory bodies.

Job Requirements



*  BS or BA in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Bio-medical Engineering required.

*  2+ years of relevant experience required.


*  CAD experience required.

*  Technical writing and English grammar skills a must.


*  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint required.



*  Experience with process and equipment validation preferred.

*  Medical device, bioengineering, or aerospace domain experience preferred.


*  Proficiency in tooling and fixture design.

*  Experience with equipment and process validations (IQ, OQ, and PQ) and related statistical analysis methods.

*  Strong teamwork and communication skills for working closely with personnel across the company and outside vendors.

*  Understanding of ISO and QSR regulations for Class III medical devices, including Good Documentation Practices.


*  Problem-solving skills for evaluating and resolving production issues and a passion for continuous improvement.


*  Strong time-management skills and ability to communicate and maintain realistic schedules to meet or beat deadlines.

*  Demonstrates the highest ethical standards, actively promotes trust, respect, and integrity in all dealings both inside and outside the company.

*  Minimal travel (less than 10%).
