Job Description

The Buyer I analyzes the needs of manufacturing and orders material to ensure an uninterrupted flow of goods and services.  The Buyer position will support the master production schedule, maintain vendor relationships, and improve product profitiability

Job Duties

*  Reviews, analyses, and executes purchase requirements. 

 

*  Coordinates purchasing activities with other departments.

 

*  Responsible for ERP data input and integrity. Maintains and updates planning fences, purchasing information, part parameters, supplier database information, and non-conformances. 

 

*  Performs cost analysis and volume planning for commodities (e.g. materials components equipment and services). 

 

*  Develop new supply sources where suppliers are no longer competitive.

 

*  May recommend cost saving proposals including alternative sourcing. 

 

*  Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues. 

 

*  Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management including procurement support commodity business plans pricing and product availability. 

 

*  Performs domestic and global sourcing of assigned commodities.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

*  Minimum Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience (i.e. 4 more years above minimum below). 

 

*  Minimum 0-1 years of material purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment. 

 

*  Ability to travel.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

*  Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred. 

 

*  Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment a plus. 

 

*  Functional knowledge of MRP systems, Engineering, Quality, and general business processes. 

 

*  Strong decision-making abilities. 

 

*  Functional knowledge of supplier processes.

 

*  Understanding of change and comprehension to sense of urgency. 

 

*  Must be able to influence, negotiate, and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals. 

 

*  Good communication skills with the ability to present complex data and situations.
