Job Description

The Microscopy Sales Consultant functions as a resource for the customer and identifies customer needs based upon detailed discussions. Using product and application knowledge, the incumbent provides solutions to meet their needs. Install and train customer using equipment purchased.


Job Duties

  • Provide the customer with demonstration and application notes in order to address all needs and promote a complete solution.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets in the growing research and clinical microscopy and digital imaging marketplaces.
  • Work with the following as appropriate: Olympus imaging specialists and marketing personnel, dealers and independent customers in order to meet sales targets.
  • Prepare quotations for customers to include detailed software and digital imaging specifications.
  • Attend trade and local shows as assigned.
  • Work with Specialists to plan and conduct major presentations to explain theory and use of software and imaging products for high-end researchers.
  • Develop proficiency with Net Suite to generate opportunities, quotes, and search for various data.
  • Develop an understanding of the key accounts in the territory.  
  • Develop relationships with leading customers and researchers in the territory to enhance the reputation of Olympus in this market. 
  • Attend advanced technical and sales training sessions.
  • Maintain, manage and be accountable for demonstration asset inventory.
  • Provide Sales Manager with weekly call reports via entries into CRM Calendar and weekly update of CRM open opportunities
  • Work to develop Olympus specifications for bids.
  • Follow company policies, processes, standard operating procedures, work instructions etc…
  • Follow company safety standards.
  • Other duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Biomedical / Life Sciences or Technical Science) is required. Post graduated studies or equivalent research work experience in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience is required; Sales experience preferred in Life Science or related technical industry. 
  • Have proficiency with administrative tools to include Outlook, Concur, SAP, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel outside of the province as required.  Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must have own transportation with valid insurance.
  • Must be able to build internal & external relationships.  
  • Perform other related essential duties as assigned.
