Job Description

Under the direction of a Supervisor, the Machinist will plan layout, set up operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual machine shop equipment. This person will work from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks which may include the cutting and shaping of metals and plastics to precision dimensions. The Machinist may communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly, check and inspect machining operations against specified tolerances, and identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.

Job Duties

*  Adhere to policy and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.


*  Apply acquired job skills company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks and adherence to production plan schedules while producing high quality products to standards.


*  Operate machinery and precision measurement equipment to manufacture molded parts and materials used in the production of ultrasound transducers.


*  Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognize the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.


*  Act as a champion of the company's Lean and Continuous Improvement programs. 


*  Time and attendance are in accordance with company policies procedures and work area schedule.


*  Complete work orders on schedule to ensure a constant flow of finished product to support customer service levels.


*  Advise management of adverse manufacturing and/or equipment conditions and issues that are affecting production and /or safety.


*  Identify overdue or potentially overdue work orders and alert managers.


*  Adhere to all established health and safety rules.

Job Requirements



*  High School Degree or Equivalent.


*  1 - 2 years of related experience.


*  Good manual dexterity.


*  Strong attention to detail.


*  Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously


*  Strong verbal communication skills.


*  Must be a highly organized self-managed individual who works with minimum supervision and the ability to work in a fast paced environment.


*  Able to lift 20 pounds.


*  Normally receives little instruction on daily work, and general instructions on newly introduced assignments. 




*  Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment a plus.


*  Experience working with Manual lathes Mills and Presses.


*  Computer skills and literacy a plus.


*  Enjoy contributing to a diverse manufacturing group.


*  Able to embrace change.


*  Able to be a strong Team Player.
