Job Description

Perform engineering design, development, and maintenance tasks, and assist in various phases of ongoing projects.  Work with a dynamic team of systems, software, electrical, and mechanical engineers to improve existing and create new best-in-class products.  Work might involve electromagnetic navigation instrumentation and systems, disposable bronchoscopic products and/or ultrasound products.  Sustainment of the existing product lines to improve their performance will be a part of the job as well.


Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) proficiently develops engineering drawings for medical products in a 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional form, for the purpose of providing the company documentation of Engineering and Manufacturing specifications. Assures that drawings are developed or revised in conformance with applicable industry standards and that drawings fully support product definition and manufacturing requirements.  Generates and maintains the files with consistency and accuracy.

Job Duties

* Develops engineering drawings electronically, supporting American National Standards, including detailed drawings, assembly drawings, and sub-assembly drawings using information provided from sketches, existing drawings, or 3-dimensional CAD models.


* Verifies and converts 3-dimensional CAD models into 2-dimensional engineering drawings.


* Incorporates design modifications into 3-dimensional models and 2-dimensional drawings.


* Gathers data for project completion.


* Verifies current bills of material, product description, EDC numbers and manufacturing process using the current computer system software.


* Verifies part geometry using engineering measuring instruments, scales, micrometers, dial callipers, or computer aided design (CAD) model verification techniques.


* Discusses project requirements with personnel directly associated with design or manufacturing.


* Responds to assignments in a timely manner, meets rigid deadlines.


* Demonstrates sound judgement in establishing product documentation criteria.


* Maintains a high level of concentration on projects.


* Responsible for keeping statistical records relating to projects.


* Participates in design qualification testing.

Job Requirements



Bachelors degree or higher in engineering (Mechanical or Materials preferred) or related field OR demonstrated equivalent experience with Associates degree.


* Minimum of 2 years of SolidWorks or Pro Engineer Creo training experience or certificate.


* Minimum of 2 years experience in 3D CAD software creating 3D solid models.


* Travel to other Company facilities, vendors, hospitals, and animal lab settings may be required.


* Ability to work overtime is required.




 Designing for Injection moulding


* Designing for 3D printing 


* Medical Device and quality system experience


* Collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems.


* Knowledge of industry, engineering, math, and materials.


* Ability to analyse data and situation and come up with creative solutions.


* Exceptional computer skills, knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint software, proficiency with various e-mail, calendaring, meeting management and related communications software.


* Strong organizational, time management and leadership/coaching skills, as well as project management skills.


* Be highly collaborative and able to work independently with minimum supervision.


* Excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.


* Be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information.


* Other projects and duties as necessary and assigned.
