Job Description

The Vice President of Strategy & Development for Single Use will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy for Single Use Endoscopy for the Olympus Medical Business. This will include working with both the Endoscopic Solutions Division (ESD) and the Therapeutic Solutions Division (TSD) Business Unit leaders across the different specialties to shape market and user need driven solutions while maximizing synergies across existing portfolios and commercial call points.

The candidate will be responsible for leading a global cross functional team that will be responsible for the execution of this strategy and roadmap from a development and manufacturing perspective and will work together with the Business Units to develop the commercial plans.

Job Duties

* Review and refine short and long term SU strategy and all projects and initiatives to ensure scope of work, priorities, funding and resources are well aligned and synergies are maximized where possible.

 

* Accountable for the research and market driven development and effective translation of customer requirements.

 

* Accountable for business case development for SU initiatives.

 

* Accountable to develop a holistic view of the portfolio that maps out investment and growth profiles that feed into our Olympus Strategic Business Plan.

 

* Accountable for developing, proposing and tracking short and long term overall global departmental resource & capabilities multi-year plans working with regional/global leaders & HR to approve, budget. 

 

* Foster a collaborative, solution oriented and customer focused culture across the global team, engaging the growing workforce through consistent and targeted internal communications initiatives.

 

* Identify resource and skill set gaps required to execute the short and long term strategy.

 

* Maintain responsibility for recruitment, development and retention of dedicated and experienced talent across all regions.

 

* Maintain responsibility for developing the right alignment to existing Divisional Governance and Business Process across all in-flight and new projects.

 

* Window person for Corporate Strategy, Divisional Medical Strategy Team and Investors Relations team coordinating efforts to plan and execute internal and external facing materials.

 

* Coordinate and collaborate with BU, Functional and regional leaders to develop the short and mid-term data acquisition, market research and data gap multi-year plan and budget.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business is required.

 

* Master's Degree, MBA, or advanced degree required.

 

* Minimum 15 years of work experience in the Medical Device Industry.

 

* Proven experience in a global role with R&D and Early Stage Strategy and Innovation  

 

* Ability to travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time

* Must demonstrate strategic capabilities with strengths in critical thinking and innovative problem solving skills.

 

* Advanced business acumen with mastery of business analytics, business case development, and P&L forecasting.

 

* Ability to successfully lead and influence cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.

 

* Exceptional organization skills and ability to skillfully manage prioritization of competing priorities for the department.

 

* Strong people leadership skills with a track record of effectively managing cross functional and multi-site teams.

 

* Excellent communication skills including the ability to persuasively deliver presentations to all levels of the organization.
