Job Description

The PMO Executive Director and his/her staff will be responsible for the Project Management and execution of all new and existing Product Development efforts for the Single Use Endoscope (SUE) projects. 

The candidate should have broad experience leading complex programs and platform solutions and developing high-performing multi-site global teams in the medical device industry. Proven experience with C-Suite stakeholder management and communicating at all levels of the organization  and skilled at facilitating cross-functional brainstorming and decision making meetings between executives, in house development and operations program management teams, and external development project stakeholders. 

This individual will be responsible for informing the Executive Committee, associated Project Approval Boards and Company Leadership on all matters related to the SUE projects (timeline, risk, resources, budget, etc.). The candidate must be an experienced developer of talent with a track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining needed capabilities utilizing a combination of in-house, external, and outsourced resources.


The PMO Executive Director will be establishing and maintaining cross functional organizational alignment to ensure a consistent and rational approach to delivering results through prioritization, staffing & execution of key development projects. This includes working across multiple levels of the organization from the Portfolio Management Team, regional PMO’s (rPMO), Program Managers, Functional Managers and Core Team Member level of the SUE TSD/ESD Project Portfolio.

Job Duties

* Lead a team of Program Managers across 3 R&D locations responsible for the SUE portfolio of improving Time to market and cost improvement initiatives

* Implement methods and tools for project initiation, team structure, project/program charter, key business requirements, schedule development & tracking, financial management, risk management, project/program reviews, escalation processes, business case development and cross-functional team leadership

* Support the VP of Single Use Endoscopy in developing the right visualization of the portfolio of initiatives

* Responsible for execution of in-flight Single Use Endoscopy Projects – Drive Individual Project Leaders/PMO, SUE Development Team, Manufacturing Business Centers, and Business Units to effectively execute on time and on budget

* Identify synergies across existing Single Use Endoscopy projects as well as any opportunities and/or alternative solutions to gain efficiencies in timeline or investments and  develop proposed recommendations, including resource and investment requirements

* Responsible for providing consolidated visualization, tracking, dashboards and reporting across all existing and new Single Use Endoscopy Projects and activities driving consistency across all project teams and functions while maintaining and abiding by regional requirements:
* Manage SUE project Budgets – in coordination with finance and strategy team and Divisional Strategic Business Process guidelines
* Manage SUE project Resources – under direction of Global PMO and utilizing global resource and project management system and tools in alignment with regional resources 
* Manage SUE project Business Cases – together with VP of Single Use Endoscopy and in coordination with finance and Divisional SBP guidelines

* Establish SUE KPI’s – under direction from Global PMO and with Divisional approval

* Support VP in leading the cross functional team to develop requirements and actionable plan and recommendations across specialties for platform solutions

* Collaborate and communicate with existing teams in ESD Endoscopic Solutions Division to ensure strong alignment and harmonization of technology requirements

* Drive compliance of the GPMO Business Review Deliverables (BRD) standards, enabling tools and organizational capabilities for SU projects across the Divisions   

* Ensure Project Management best practices and execution of all elements of GPMO among Project Managers leaders including project plans, project charters, project contracts, integrated business plans, business requirements, project gate reviews, post-mortems, etc

* Facilitate, mediate and/or arbitrate between and/or among Program Managers, Core Team members, Functional Managers and BRD Review team members regarding process optimization and project execution

Job Requirements



* Bachelor's Engineering or Technical Field. An advanced degree (MS, MBA, etc) is required.


* Project Management Training & Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) Required. Lean, or Design for Six Sigma a plus.


* Minimum 10 years in managing cross-functional large technical complex program / project experience, with a demonstrated record of accomplishment of execution bringing product from concept through market release.


* Minimum 5 years minimum experience in Medical Device Industry.


* Minimum 5 years minimum experience managing and developing people is required.


* Ability to travel domestically and internationally 30% of the time.




* Experience with applicable FDA guidance’s, ISO 13485 regulations and applicable industry standards.


* Experience in the implementation of transformation and organizational change management.


* Team player who thrives on working collaboratively and skilled at influencing without authority.


* Demonstrated planning and organizational skills with background and experience on project management principles, practices, techniques and tools.


* Keen sense of time management adept at managing competing priorities and master of multi-tasking in a changing business environment.


* Avid problem solver with proven ability to make timely decisions while dealing with ambiguity.


* Experience in working in a matrix organization with great collaboration skills in a multicultural or international environment.


* Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency, and drive for results.


* Effective at dealing with change and ambiguity as business needs shift, demonstrating flexibility while ensuring compliance and managing stress well.


* Ability to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.


* Expert level experience with MS Project, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word MS project.
