Job Description

The Chief of Staff for Therapeutic Solutions Division (TSD) Business Leaders will help plan, coordinate and direct financial, strategic and operational activities across the 6 Business Units for TSD. They will have daily contact with finance and the strategy lead to ensure that there is good visualization of actions and that all key stakeholders are informed and their strategy leaders and will coordinate regularly with the Division Head and Office of COO support team to coordinate deliverables, inputs, key meetings and events. The position provides strategic support in a one-on-one working relationship to the Business Leader heads and serves as the primary point of contact for the Business Unit leadership teams. The Chief of Staff organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information to facilitate efficient decision making. This position provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance. 

Job Duties

* Act as a key strategist and advisor to Business Leaders; identify priorities, brainstorm & identify solutions to challenges

 

* Build a thorough understanding of all core Business Units within TSD and key support functions and apply that knowledge to effectively manage strategic and tactical initiatives consistent with objectives

 

* Proactively identify risks and issues that could impact the successful execution of business objectives; Elevate risks and issues about which the Business Leaders should be aware and frame/position ideas to resolve the issues mitigate the risks

 

* Provide support to Business Leaders to ensure that all Divisional activities, initiatives and efforts are properly communicated across all BU’s and that inputs are collected in a harmonized and efficient way

 

* Support efforts for PNL Management in conjunction with TSD Finance and BU leadership - Continuously measure and analyze revenue, expenses, COS and profit data in order to inform our short term decisions and keeping Business Leaders informed


* Overall responsibility for coordinating efforts between TSD Finance, TSD Strategy & Portfolio and Business Leaders to effectively execute all financial planning exercises: Fiscal Year Planning (FYP), Multi Year Planning (MYP), Long Range Planning (LRP) and Strategic Business Planning Process (SBP) becoming a subject matter expert in the framework for each of these processes, the connection points and maintaining ownership for the report outs that are needed for the different stakeholders

 

* Act as representative for the Business Leaders in appropriate meetings to gather information provide input and facilitate efficient decision making 

 

* Ensure preparation coordination and facilitation of meetings; develop charter objectives and agenda and disseminate key outcomes decisions and actions to relevant stakeholders 

 

* Provide support for project updates and communications e.g. draft emails reports memos presentations internal and external communications in conjunction with Executive Assistant, BU, Strategy, Finance, HR, and PMO

 

* Support Business Leaders in coordinating organizational procedures for optimized efficiency working with Endoscopic Solutions Division and Office of COO were applicable to harmonize process and improve efficiencies

 

* Support the Business Leaders in taking over clearly defined operational and/or strategic projects and run those independently. Prepare presentations and reports

 

* Orchestrate decision making process

 

* Conduct research on clearly defined projects

 

* Conduct analysis and research independently

 

* Calculate business cases, summarize results, and drive recommendation for next steps

 

* Support the procedures of Financial Budgeting & Forecasting, in order for Division Heads to make decisions with a solid understanding of the numbers, background and process


* Support the formulation of TSD Business Unit key priority measures

 

* Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* B.S. in Business or related program is required

 

* Minimum 8 years of experience directly managing a team

 

* Travel locally and internationally (15%)    

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* MBA preferred    

 

* Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred

 

*Experience working in or with a global organization across multiple cultures sites and functions is preferred

 

* Consulting Experience a plus

 

* Strong project management skills

 

* Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills

 

* Excellent time management skills.

 

* Excellent written and spoken communication (English, and ideally also Japanese)

 

* Business and financial acumen

 

* Proactive and highly collaborative

 

* Ability to think broadly, while also focusing on the details
