Job Description

The Senior HR Specialist manages several Human Resource services to ensure they are properly administered and serves as a front line resource relative to employee inquiries regarding HR policies programs and procedures. They interface directly with external partners and the Corporate HR Staff on various human resources and payroll related issues and initiatives. Provides front line employee relations support and refers more complex inquiries to HR leadership as appropriate. They serve as the backup to the Senior Manager Human Resources. Faciliates training at the site as assigned.

Job Duties

* Serves as front line support relative to employee inquiries and general employee relations issues and resolves issues as appropriate.


* Counsels managers relative to minor disciplinary issues and files disciplinary actions as is appropriate.


* Works to promote positive employee relations at the site.


* Assists in communicating and enforcing various HR policies and procedures.


* Assists with the development of metrics that will measure items such as attrition absenteeism and productivity.


* Accurately monitors FMLA CFRA utilization and payment of disability benefits from insurers and payroll.


* Prepares ADA medical questionnaires and serves as liaison between Corporate HR and vendors as appropriate.


* Assists in the open enrollment process.


* Administers the ADP EZlabor attendance system and works with other stakeholders within HR to ensure correct reporting to SAP.


* Ensures that the data for processing attendance represents an accurate population and ensures timely and accurate transmission of data to Corporate Payroll.


* Processes Worker's Compensation claims and accident reports.


* Serves as site liason with carrier representative relative to claims questions discrepancies. 


* Works with EHS&F personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness of safety log.


* Prepares new hire paperwork benefits packets various policy forms and I 9 verifications.


* Creates and maintains individual employee files.


* Works with third party agencies to ensure that contingent workers receive appropriate orientation.


* Assists in the recruiting process as needed.


* Posts open positions on internal and external job posting boards.

Job Requirements



* Bachelor Degree required or equivalent experience is required. 


* Minimum of 3 years HR experience required including experience in at least two (2) of the following disciplines: employee relations benefits administration leave administration HR policy interpretation formulation HR data processing training facilitation HR reporting and or payroll administration.




* A degree in an HR related discipline is preferred.


* PHR or SPHR is preferred.


* Must be able to organize work detailed and set priorities and work independently.


* Ability to analyze data and then create and communicate recommendations based on data to meet desired business objectives.


* Working knowledge of benefits laws and regulations including ERISA COBRA Worker s Compensation ADA and HIPPA is preferred.


* Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office HRIS systems ADP EZLabor SAP is preferred.


* Professional demeanour with the ability to be able to effectively communicate with and resolve issues for employees at all levels throughout the organization.


* Ability to shift priorities quickly.


* Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.


* Proven customer focus and skill at handling stressful issues in a courteous professional manner.


* Ability to maintain confidentiality lead projects and work independently.
