Job Description
We are currently looking for a summer student to join our supply chain team of Olympus Canada, Inc. in our Richmond, ON facility. This opportunity involves 40 hours per week at an hourly rate of $19.00. This summer student assignment will run from June through August 2026.
The Summer Student - Warehouse will work with the warehouse team, ensuring that incoming and outgoing customer repairs and shipments are handled quickly and with minimal errors.
Job Duties
The summer student may perform assigned tasks in any of the following areas:
- Picking/Packing: Receives documents on paper or via electronic RF equipment (pick slip/label) containing items to be taken from stock for shipment to the customer. Locates designated items in the warehouse and picks all items until the order is complete. Notifies the team lead of items that are missing. Scans item numbers against container ID using handheld scanners that read information directly to WMi (Warehouse Management System) database.
- Handles each customer order as stated in the notes section of the work order/label or in instructions provided by the division. Packs the order using standard shipping supplies e.g., boxes filler material, etc. Maintains and updates inventory levels for special packaging materials. Ensures completion of urgent orders per directions of warehouse team lead.
- Ensures shipping/receiving SOPs are followed.
- Assists other departments in a timely manner as issues arise.
- Assists with outbound shipments.
- Once outbound shipments have been checked and verified by a Team Lead and documents have been signed loads trailers.
- Secures driver's signature. Observe all health safety and hygiene rules. Maintain a clean working environment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience. Related work experience in a warehouse environment preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to complete required technical training and demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired in periodic testing and inspection of work performed required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Preferred:
- Experienced in driving forklifts an asset.
- Experience with JDE or SAP an asset.
- Familiar with and able to utilize material handling equipment.
- Computer literate and familiar with inventory control procedures in an ERP environment.
- Demonstrate skills in disassembly, assembly, repair, quality inspection or equivalent in precision repair activity while meeting productivity and quality key performance indicators required.
- Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for employees who are at risk for exposure to blood or other bodily fluids on the job. Service responsibilities include the handling of products and equipment that may have potentially come into contact with blood or bodily fluids. OCI requires that all employees working in areas that may be exposed to this risk, either provide proof of the Twinrix (Hepatitis A and B) vaccination or sign a waiver accepting the possible risk of exposure from not being vaccinated.
