Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Technical and Marketing Communications, the incumbent designs, produces and maintains a variety of technical documents providing information about a product or system to ensure its proper, efficient and safe use.

Job Duties

Specific Responsibilities

  • Research and assemble information, conduct interviews with technical experts and explore products to be documented;
  • Sort, consolidate and organize information;
  • Design, write and organize technical content;
  • Write and update technical manuals and other technical documents in English (e.g., user manuals, maintenance manuals, procedures, etc.);
  • Produce or adapt drawings, screen shots and other visual aids to illustrate these manuals and technical documents;
  • Ensure that the document meets applicable standards;
  • Evaluate and estimate the time required to complete projects and complete the work within the allotted time frame;
  • Adjust the optimal quality of his production according to the planned hours and the requested delivery date;
  • Carry out all tasks in accordance with the process established in the work flow management tool and record the progress of the project in the tools provided for this purpose;
  • Contribute to the updating of document templates;
  • Create the files necessary for the translation of technical manuals;
  • Process and finalize files for external translation projects as required;
  • Support translators and other writers in their work by answering their questions;
  • Maintain professional skills;
  • Maintain a technology watch;
  • Carry out any other related tasks requested by his/her superior.

Be actively involved and participate in the development and implementation of the continuous improvement culture.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills :

  • Academic background in professional writing or other relevant field;
  • Three years of professional writing experience;
  • Proven English writing skills;
  • Functional knowledge of French;
  • Proficiency in major software and writing tools: Adobe Frame Maker, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, drawing and image processing software, online help file creation software, etc;
  • English level: Intermediate 3.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time;
