Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Customer Solutions is responsible for:


* Optimizing Manufacturing processes to increase output and reduce defect rates, variability, and cost.

* Providing immediate response and resolution to equipment issues, downtime mitigation and product non-conformances on the production line.

* Ensuring the successful transfer of new products from design to production.

Job Duties

* Leads improvement projects on existing manufacturing processes for cost-reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.


* Supports new product design and operational development lifecycle activities from product concept to production, including specification development, FMEA support, process V & V activities, prototype and pilot build support, and design transfer.


* Creates and releases manufacturing documents and performs training for manufacturing personnel on new and existing processes.


* Drives investigation and resolution of product/manufacturing problems indicated by the Facility, Customer, Field and Support Services, and Contract Manufacturing.


* Drives the validation of equipment and processes as required (IQ, OQ, PQ).


* Develops, monitors, and trends critical parameters and KPI’s of the manufacturing process.


* Partners with resources such as suppliers and Olympus sites to resolve technical issues or improve processes or products.


* Adheres to, and supports audits of the requirements of the company's Quality Management System.


* Follows GWI’s, GSOP and owns MP's to ensure control of product/process design

Job Requirements



* Bachelor’s degree, in engineering discipline required; Masters, desirable


* Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering required with Bachelor's degree.


* Minimum 4 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering required with Master's degree.


* Medical device, bioengineering and/or audio/video domain experience preferred


* Experience in video imaging preferred


* Travel – up to 10%




 Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma


* Demonstrated CAD experience


* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint


* ERP / PLM  experience with proficiency in Oracle and Agile highly desirable


* Working knowledge of ISO 14001 highly desirable


* Working knowledge in FDA Quality System Regulation and ISO 13485 highly desirable


* Strong verbal and written communication skills
