Job Description

Members of our engineering team are responsible for designing, documenting, implementing and testing software used in innovative medical devices. Our software test engineers focus on creating, updating and executing verification test protocols, validating test methods and development tools, ad hoc testing of software in development, reviewing software requirements, and triaging and diagnosing problems reported from the field.  Software testing is a critical role to producing medical devices that reliably and safely perform their functions to improve the lives of patients around the world. 

Job Duties

  • Execution of test protocols during development and verification of product software.
  • Writing and updating test protocols to test requirements of product software.
  • Drive all product software testing types (functional, integration, system, regressions) using automated and manual testing techniques.
  • Validation of test methods and software development tools.
  • Work closely with software development team to test features as they are completed.
  • Log, analyse, and report test results.
  • Create and manage documentation pertaining to FDA-compliant quality assurance (QA) system.
  • Define and evolve testing standards, guidelines, procedures, processes, and metrics.
  • Create and maintain automated UI tests and maintain in a continuous integrated environment.
  • Triage and investigate bug reports and complaints.
  • All additional duties as directed.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience in Medical Device development and/or sustaining engineering efforts utilizing a stage-gate process.
  • Working knowledge of FDA Design Controls required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Office applications including MS Outlook, MS Powerpoint, MS Project, Visio, etc.
  • Able to solve complicated technical challenges and use good judgement in making timely decisions.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with others, works well within cross-functional teams and across multiple sites, as applicable.
  • Must be capable to effectively executing on multiple work streams in parallel.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Comfortable presenting information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Must be able to work in a professional open-space environment without distracting others.
  • Must have a positive attitude and capable of accomplishing efforts in a timely manner and with high quality.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in hand held electro-mechanical devices is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of international standards (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO14971, ISO10993, IEC60601, etc.) a plus.
  • Experience developing product design deliverables a plus.
  • Experience with scripting languages i.e. bash, perl, python preferred.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position in this location is $79,259.00 - $107,000.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). 

 

Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position, including level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
