Job Description

The Confocal Imaging Sales Associate position is a career track opportunity for a Scientist or Postdoc with confocal imaging expertise to join an elite, professional sales organization.  If interacting with Academic Researchers, Clinical Researchers and members of the Biotech and Pharma industry to find solutions for their research needs excites you, then this job will provide that opportunity.  If you enjoy traveling, have a passion for science and  working with Multiphoton/ Visible Laser Scanning systems and software, this could be the start of a rewarding journey.

 

We offer in depth training in all phases of the job to build your skills and knowledge.  This will position you to act as a technical resource for your customers and local sales team.  You and the local territory Microscope Representative will identify customer needs based upon detailed discussions.   Using your product and application knowledge, you will provide technical solutions to meet the customer’s confocal  imaging and system needs. You will also install the equipment and  train your customers on how to best utilize the tools provided.  The results of your efforts will contribute to our purpose of “Making people's lives healthier, safer and more fulfilling. ”

Job Duties

* Sales and support of Olympus products and related components in the Life Science Markets including Multi-Photon Microscopy, Visible Laser Scanning Microscopy, Imaging/Image Analysis and third-party equipment as required.

 

* Develop an understanding of the key accounts, departments, and researchers in the territory.

 

* Observe and assist with demonstrations.  Research and learn technical data and application note content to address various customer needs to prepare a proposed solution.

 

* Work with more senior Confocal Specialists to plan and conduct major presentations to explain optical theory and promotion of Olympus software and imaging products for Life Science researchers.

 

* Research and learn technical data and application note content to address various customer needs to prepare a proposed solution.

 

* Provide the customer with product information and application notes to address all needs and promote a complete solution.

 

* Prepare quotations for customers to include detailed software and digital imaging specifications as provided by senior Confocal Specialists and Application Team.

 

* Develop proficiency with CRM to generate Opportunities, Quotes, and searches for various data.

 

* Develop proficiency with administrative tools including Microsoft 365, Concur, HighSpot, Ozone (intranet), and Olympus Learning Management System as well as other administrative tools.

 

* Develop proficiency with Elton inventory control software to maintain and manage sample account.

 

* Provide Sales Manager with weekly call reports via entries into CRM Calendar and weekly update of CRM open opportunities

 

* Work to develop Olympus specifications for bids.

 

* Attend National and local trade shows as assigned.

 

* Overnight Travel is required.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Life or Technical Science or equivalent experience required. Masters or Ph.D. preferred.

 

* Working knowledge of laser scanning microscopy, 2-photon microscopy, deconvolution, point spread functions required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Prior work with platforms including MATLAB, Image J and Python is a plus.

 

* Advanced applications knowledge is a plus. (TIRF, FRET, FRAP, automated multi-dimensional acquisitions, etc.)

 

* If no sales experience, MS/ Ph.D. degree with significant confocal microscopy and imaging software/image analysis experience.

 

* Equivalent mix of education and applicable confocal microscopy/ digital imaging/image analysis  experience from an accredited institution considered.

 

* Effective training and troubleshooting skillsets are preferred.

 

* Strong interpersonal communications and computer skills are necessary.

 

* Able to work effectively in a team selling environment.

 

* Perform other related essential duties as assigned.
