Job Description

The Vice President of Endoscopy Marketing oversees the Endoscopy Marketing organization and works with Marketing leadership to develop and implement marketing strategies to align with the Endoscopy’s business mission of delivering clinically advanced solutions that empower patients and providers to better detect, treat, and eradicate GI disease. This position is responsible for ensuring that marketing plans developed will resonate with internal and external customers to deliver revenue and operating income results in accordance with the overall Endoscopy Division target. This position will partner closely with Sales leadership to ensure Marketing plans are properly aligned with sales direction and that measures are in place to determine effectiveness of programs and promotions.

Job Duties

Leads the functions of a professional Endoscopy Division marketing staff responsible for the following:

 

* Provide executive leadership to the Endoscopy Division Marketing organization. Oversee a team of Marketing professionals responsible for creating and delivering marketing plans that align with the Endoscopy Mission and deliver revenue and operating income results.

 

* Define, communicate, and implement the marketing strategy and direction for the Endoscopy Division which involves:

* Define primary go to market strategies for entire Endoscopy product portfolio.

* Develop and manage the product portfolio through best in class product life cycle management strategies

* Examine and interpret market information on each market segment.

* Authorize custom market studies coordinating with MSG Strategy Department as required.

* Develop a complete picture of the available market opportunity and Olympus share of market in each.

* Evaluate and assess the activities and impact of competitors.

 

* Provide direction to Marketing and Sales teams on product benefits and technical assistance that may be provided to current and potential customers by explaining key performance characteristics uses and specifications of Olympus Endoscopy products.

 

* Provide leadership in the development and execution of comprehensive launch plans, consumer strategy and brand building strategy, develop sales and physician education programs and train the marketing team.

 

* Coach, develop, and manage performance for Marketing Executive Directors and support Marketing Executive Directors in their leadership of the remaining Endoscopy Marketing organization.

 

* Explore new technologies and evaluate their commercial potential for the Endoscopy Division. Research and recommend ideas for new products or product features that have the potential of increasing the size of the market for Olympus products or which may represent a competitive edge for Olympus.

 

* Plan and prepare an operating budget for marketing by forecasting expenses for consultants, product launches, staffing, product development, trade shows, and other related items.

 

* Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field.

 

* Master's Degree or MBA strongly preferred.

 

* Minimum of 15 years of marketing leadership experience is required.

 

* Ability to travel both domestic and international 30-50%. Overnight travel may be required.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Experience in medical device sales or marketing is preferred.

 

* Excellent people management organizational motivational and team building skills required.

 

* Must have demonstrated track record of displaying creative/innovative skills.

 

* Experienced in product launch and product management within the product life cycle including voice of the customer product place price and promotion.

 

* Specialized and in-depth knowledge of the Gastroenterology and Respiratory market/industry.
