Job Description

The Supply Chain and Distribution Director is a dynamic thought leader with strategic experience who will successfully lead the Olympus Distribution Supply Chain organization in accordance with established practices of the company. Manage Olympus Distribution Supply Chain for finished goods, returns and assets across four distribution centers and various 3PL partners. The incumbent will maintain responsibility for Distribution Supply Chain performance and development of distribution strategic direction and execution of responsibilities to meet future needs. This position will be the liaison between the company’s Business Units and Supply Chain Management leaders. Oversee development and implementation of new initiatives, manage cost drivers and creation & performance of budgets, improvement of internal business controls, daily operations, and inventory management.

Job Duties

* Oversight of all management of distribution supply chain, daily execution and issue escalation of distribution processes and distribution centers. Must ensure Olympus customer focused supply chain is meeting and delivering Key Performance Index and defined customer service levels.
 

* Maintain resonsibility for developing and implementing strategies to address short and long-term goals within Olympus Distribution Supply Chain. This is executed through the fostering of best practices, driving operational excellence, and excellent customer service to internal and external customers.


* Accountable for devising, implementing, and administering operational planning and analysis, creating operational KPI's, controls and policies, help establish short and long range operational goals, strategic plans, and policies.
 

* Lead the Distribution Supply Chain consisting of four distribution centers and multiple 3PL partners to meet the distribution needs of Olympus.
 

* Lead process improvements and implement procedures using lean and 6-signma project management methodologies to meet stated goals. Lead a customer service focused distribution supply chain to meet high service levels to our customers.
 

* Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the warehouse management software application; lead the move toward the integration of new technology to meet the specifications for supply chain and logistics management.
 

* Coordinate with senior leaders and consulting partners to determine distribution strategy to support continued business growth.
 

* Interfaces with multiple internal and external departments including Distribution, Logistics, Trade Compliance, Inventory Planning and Purchasing, Sales Operations, and Finance to align on assumptions and implications for distribution optimization.
 

* Partners with cross-functional business units to analyze distribution metrics and develops strategy and business case(s) for future capabilities. Provides input on network strategy recommendations including the optimal use of current assets, investments in new technology, expansion of capacity, evaluation of alternative fulfillment models, etc.
 

* Structure the proper distribution organization and procedures to meet business goals and customer needs.  Select and manage outsource companies to optimize Olympus supply chain and assets effectively.
 

* Ensure all SCM staff is properly trained on Olympus policies, procedures, and is complying with all Corporate and Government requirements.
 

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor’s degree supply chain management, logistics, business administration, engineering, finance or other relevant fields of study.

 

* Minimum 10 years’ experience in distribution, transportation, inventory and production control experience in a high volume environment

 

* Minimum 5 years people management experience required in supply chain, operations or manufacturing environment

 

* Ability to travel up to 40%

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* MBA or advance degree is preferred.

 

* Preferred experience working in SAP, WMi, and supply chain or manufacturing environments.

 

* Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

 

* Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office, SAP experience a plus.

 

* Familiarity with computerized supply chain programs is preferred.
