Job Description
The Sr. Director, R&D Delivery Performance, Global is responsible to the entire CTO R&D organization to improve the overall performance level and to support the transformation process towards the Olympus / CTO-Vision.To do so, Delivery Performance leader and group will support collaboration with the operational teams or projects, select and implement the right tools to ensure Program and Project robustness. Delivery Performance will closely monitor/report the impact of all improvement initiatives and ensure these are effective and sustainable.
The position will especially:

- Manage the identification and implementation of the delivery performance activities within and outside of the CTO-Organization by connecting the relevant activities and functions responsible for them.
- Build bridges to the various functional stakeholders and internal customers to deeply understand their needs and translate into new initiatives.
- Ensure the application of Global Design Control processes and Requirements development are robustly adopted and executed to across all programs and projects to gain efficiencies.
- Initiatives driven by the Innovia program are rolled-out and effectively implemented across the CTO organization while respecting regional specifics and intercultural challenges.
- Monitoring of the business relevance of the delivery performance portfolio of initiatives including Strategic workforce planning and Competency enhancement for the CTO organization.
- Manage and execute ad-hoc global improvement and transformation requests (e.g. support on CAPAs, FDA Mitigations, Capability Gaps etc.) as a quick reaction force leader and group.
Job Duties
- Responsible to implement on a global basis, state-of-the-art improvement initiatives in accordance with the CTO and TxO Vision and Strategy and in cooperation with other functions.
- Build up and execute a delivery performance portfolio of initiatives and manage the acquisition/development of right resources and capabilities.
- Responsible to implement methodologies in R&D organization to improve the organization in terms of lowering costs, time to market, resource utilization in order to prevent waste.
- In order to realize these responsibilities, the Delivery Performance leader will establish a global network of experts for these topics and enable smooth cooperation.
- Working closely with the relevant managers/experts across divisions to understand the operational & strategic needs and translate them into concrete improvement initiatives providing a high business impact.
- Drive and support selected strategic TxO topics and initiatives with high priority and local/cross functional challenges, e. g. capability management, Strategic workforce planning, Requirements optimization, Test Method robustness, Modularization, etc.
- Capability Management:

- Implement governance, process and organization in strong collaboration with HR and CTO members
- Ensure annual update process to evaluate strategic capability & operational skill gaps
- Define upskilling roadmaps with CTO leadership group
- Strategic Workforce Planning
- Maintain global strategic workforce planning model.
- Analyse strategic workforce scenarios within CTO under consideration of core team roles.
- Develop initiatives to close strategic / operational resource gap in collaboration with CTO leaders
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree, ideally in engineering, mechanical engineering, medical engineering, business administration or comparable
- Extensive experience (12-14 years) in working in global matrix organizations, ideally experience in different roles in MedTech or related industry
- Ability to identify, drive and implement transformation initiatives to achieve development/operational excellence
- Passion for learning and improving both for your team and yourself
- Proven experience in improving efficiency of R&D and Manufacturing processes and organizations
- Knowledge of process / organization performance diagnostics.
- Certification in efficiency improvement methods (LEAN, SixSigma, Kaizen) preferred
- Process Management & Modeling
- Workshop Moderation & Coaching
- Willingness to travel up to 1-2 weeks a month.
Preferred:
- In addition to English, Japanese fluency will be a plus

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position is $166,222.00 - $249,334.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). This pay range represents the National Average of the range, and may vary depending on the location of the individual.
