Job Description

The Prostate Health Clinical Specialist, in partnership with Sales, will be involved in the market development and clinical procedure support of Urology products with a primary focus on prostate health procedures within their geography. The Clinical Specialist will help support strategic in-services, evaluations, and meetings to gain market support of Olympus technologies. This role combines multiple functional attributes such as clinical knowledge, sales, marketing, product and procedural knowledge, leadership capabilities, and strong communication skills.

 

Job Duties

  • Support healthcare provider training in person and virtually. Be an integral part of external and internal training events.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team based on clinical experience and feedback from customers to help with recommendations for commercial strategy, strategic planning, and product improvement.
  • Serve as the product expert to drive adoption and the safe and effective use of prostate procedures.
  • Develop and support healthcare provider relationships and help to identify where Olympus requires expertise to support the business; this will be accomplished while adhering to the Olympus code of ethics and compliance guidelines.
  • Provide skills and resources to enable the sales team to competently influence healthcare professionals and other champions on the purchase of our offerings.
  • Work with product Marketing and Professional Education to define healthcare provider needs for the safe and effective use of Olympus equipment.
  • Provide the sales organization with educational support, resources, and guidance on Urology technologies.
  • Utilize learnings in field to contribute to sales training content, structure, and execution.
  • Secure business intelligence to provide input and feedback to Marketing for key growth areas.
  • Stay up to date of relevant clinical studies, papers, competitive market movement, and other pertinent information and provide updates to Marketing, when necessary.
  • Help create best practice roadmaps for training and adoption of Olympus technologies.
  • Report complaints / adverse events to respective Olympus teams
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required and relevant clinical/business experience is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of combined healthcare Sales, Marketing and/or clinical experience within a hospital operating room environment is required.
  • Experience in developing and managing HCP relationships is essential.
  • The proven ability to develop and grow business based on ‘procedure-focused sales’ is necessary.
  • Must have demonstrated success in developing accounts, training physicians and their staff.
  • The ability to execute strategic plans and lead change is essential.
  • Must have experience in interacting with a diverse cross functional team.
  • Must have strong prospecting skills and be a self-starter.
  • Must be capable of independent action and detail oriented.
  • Multi-task/time management skills are essential.
  • The ability to internalize technical concepts, products, and services is necessary.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills at all levels. Ability to deal with difficult situations is important.
  • Willingness to travel domestically to train physicians, customer meetings, internal meetings, and tradeshows is required. No international travel is expected and most travel will be within defined region.
  • 80% travel required by plane and/or car (4 field days, 1 office/administrative day)
  • Willingness to travel for customer meetings and tradeshows and internal events.  

 

Preferred:

  • Nursing degree is highly preferred.
  • Urology or Ultrasound Tech clinical experience is preferred.
