Job Description

As a Product Manager working on the Customer Solutions (CS) team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will lead the definition, development, and commercialization of products and services that drive the realization of the CS vision which is to connect healthcare teams with each other and the clinical and operational information they need when and where they need it. Our mission is to create more highly functioning teams and a superior experience for clinicians and their patients in the operating room and throughout the hospital. This role is global in scope and requires a blend of technical product ownership and savvy business management skills.

Job Duties

* Participate in the development of long and short-term marketing plans and strategies to increase revenue, maximize profit, and grow market share for assigned product lines. Support the development of annual and corporate strategic business plans.

 

* Work closely with sales management to establish sales strategy, targeting, and promotion of assigned product lines.

 

* Provide product management support for product portfolio including participation in product review, Research & Development, upstream activities, training, customer support, forecasting of units to be sold and the net selling price, inventory management (including field demonstration equipment, safety stock, loaner pool and phase-in/out of new & obsolete products) and setting and management of budgets. 

 

* Act as project manager and provide direction to the product launch team through all phases of product launch. This includes coordinating activities of all internal and external groups, assuring that all launch criteria are met and that all marketing and sales materials are available

 

*  Manage physician/surgeon Healthcare Professional (HCP) relationships, always following Olympus America Incorporated code of ethics and compliance guidelines.

 

*  Act as the product and procedure expert to drive large account conversions. Interface with Olympus Tokyo and other business centers to provide relevant and updated market information as necessary

 

* Conduct field work including: Organizing and conducting workshops to promote the sale of the product. Partner with customers to present the product to other potential customers. · Provide meeting and trade show support. · Work with sales representatives to understand the issues and obstacles in selling products as well as identify new opportunities. · Attend medical and industry conventions to meet with physicians and nurses to listen to their concerns, learn of competitors products, and stay current with developments in the field. 

 

* Track and evaluate product performance and sales after product launch, which involves: Monitoring customer satisfaction with initial installations and use of the product. Visiting customer sites. Leading user meetings to discuss product performance. Documents any performance problems of deficiencies noted. Assembles, edits, and transmits all critical information back to Olympus Tokyo. Monitoring initial product sales and tracks against projected sales, revenue, and profit.

 

* Develop and implement counter-trend strategies, e.g. special promotions, when sales are lower than projections.

 

* Monitor and evaluate the competition’s response to the new product introduction. Initiating appropriate action to counter competitive activities.

 

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelors degree in marketing, business or technical related field.

 

* Minimum of 2 years of marketing experience or combined sales/marketing/operations/sales support/analytics is required.

 

* Must be willing to travel (domestic and international) as required (generally 15-25%).

 

* Work flexible hours as required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience in healthcare and/or medical devices is preferred.

 

* Ability to interact with field personnel, management and customers.

 

* Individual must possess a high degree of self-reliance, initiative and creativity.

 

* Experience in developing and managing physician / surgeon HCPs.

 

* Product Launch Experience.

 

* Proven ability to develop and grow business based on procedure-focused sales.

 

* Ability to interpret trends and data, translating the information into actions and improvements.

 

* Experience in interacting with a diverse cross functional team,

 

* Excellent written and verbal communication.

 

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

* Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

 

* High degree of personal organization.
