The Olympus Corporation of Americas (OCA) Privacy Compliance team is one of the four regional teams in the Global Privacy Compliance organization. Led by the Regional Privacy Officer of OCA, the OCA Privacy team is responsible for leading and managing privacy compliance for the Americas region enabling Olympus and its regional operations to be a responsible and data-driven business. The OCA Privacy team does this by monitoring laws related to personal data across the regions, designing and implementing applicable policies, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and templates, designing and delivering training and communication to increase awareness and supporting on new opportunities involving personal data.

 

The Privacy Analyst will report directly to the OCA Privacy Officer.  The Privacy Analyst is responsible for executing operational privacy tasks as defined and allocated through the OCA Privacy Team, including lead process review, documentation, and re-engineering of processes, facilitation initial and annual inventory of personal information (PI) applications, train applicable stakeholders, and partner with the business to embed privacy into strategic projects. 

Job Duties

  • Lead privacy process review, documentation, and re-engineering of processes
  • Facilitate initial and annual review of personal information (PI) applications for data inventory and Record of Processing Activities (ROPAs)
  • Create and maintain operational privacy metrics and derive business insights
  • Partner with business stakeholders to embed privacy into strategic projects, including lead requirements gathering sessions, document business needs, review proposed functionality and provide privacy guidance to both technical and business teams
  • Initiate relevant privacy assessments to internal stakeholders and assist in their completion.
  • Monitor and manage any shared mailboxes owned by OCA Privacy or the Global Privacy Compliance organization, including responses to routine enquiries and escalating issues to the correct team leads or contacts. 
  • Support OCA Privacy and/or the wider Global Privacy Compliance organization in privacy incident management and response. 
  • Adapts and delivers ongoing training and privacy awareness initiatives to the OCA region.

Job Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • J.D. LLM Master of Business Administration or Master of Science in Business, or Management Information Systems or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate setting with experience working on privacy projects, acting as liaison to business partners as trusted privacy lead, and issue-spotter.
  • Experience in process review and re-engineering with ability to promote and implement automation of repetitive tasks.
  • Must be available to domestic travel occasionally as needed.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Relevant certification such as CIPP, CIPM or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in developing presentations and communicating privacy analysis to cross functional business leaders.
  • Demonstrates proficient analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with enterprise Governance, Risk, & Compliance tools
  • Ability to multitask and balance priorities
  • Regular participation in global team meetings, primarily virtual formats, and occasional physical presence
  • Stay current on industry best-practices for Privacy and Security
  • Manage complex projects with competing business initiatives and demanding timelines
  • Track Privacy KPIs and KRIs to better understand drivers and implications of performance and risk indicators
