Job Description

This role is in the Global Internal Communication Center of Excellence and plays a vital part in contributing to its success. It executes best-in-class internal communication activities for the GIS Division, which accounts for approximately 70% of global revenue (roughly $5 billion USD). This position develops and orchestrates a wide range of communications content and materials; utilizes various communications platforms, channels, and tools; and monitors communications for optimization and effectiveness. This includes, for example, planning and implementing internal news publishing, town halls, roundtables, online employee events (“Olympus Exchange” events), and other employee and leadership communication. The role will partner closely with the Global GIS Business Partner, ensuring consistent messaging and high-quality outputs.

 

The role applies best-in-class editorial standards, embraces new ways of working, and actively leverages AI tools for content creation or self-management. It provides a profound understanding of our strategic direction and the GIS division.

 

The role plays a key part in strengthening Olympus’ employee engagement globally and may support other areas of the Communications organization in cross-functional efforts and initiatives.

Job Duties

  • Plan and execute internal GIS-related employee and leadership communication activities, defined by the Global GIS Business Partner.
  • Draft, edit, or localize internal news articles and leadership messages. Work closely with subject matter experts to turn complex topics into clear, engaging stories. Adapt messaging for different audiences.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute town halls, round tables, or Olympus Exchange events.
  • Apply best-in-class editorial work, on-brand execution, and process excellence.
  • Integrate various communication types to effectively reach different audiences and stakeholder groups. (Memos, FAQs, talking points, speeches, presentations, videos, intranet, enterprise social media, town halls, round tables, surveys.)
  • Consult and determine the most effective communication channels for goal achievement, together with the internal channel experts. Publish content leveraging the internal channel landscape (e.g., intranet, Viva Engage).
  • Monitor engagement metrics and feedback to continuously improve communication effectiveness.
  • Guide stakeholder decision-making by transparent, meaningful, and engaging communication. Specifically, strengthen employee understanding and engagement.
  • Support execution of communications associated with large company initiatives and change management plans.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications, ideally in medtech and an international environment
  • Editorial and internal channel management experience
  • Experience in working with agile methods
  • Deep understanding of the M365 environment. Change communications experience is a plus.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-cultural teams and various stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of the English language, including reading, writing, and verbal communication skills are required and bilingual skills are advantageous.
  • Must thoroughly understand developing/editing content for various audiences and channels.
  • Solid project management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to confidently provide communications consultation to various stakeholder groups.
  • Familiar with the Olympus business, narrative, and internal communication tactics.
  • Strong stakeholder management; ability to work cross functionally with a collaborative and team-oriented style; and ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Global collaboration will require flexibility and a willingness to work non-core hours.
  • Willingness to embrace ambiguity and work effectively in uncertain environments
