Job Description

The Global Project Engineer, QARA will work with the Global Project Management Office and management of all levels on the implementation of new strategic projects and process improvement initiatives. The Global Project Engineer is a strategic business partner who drives value in QARA activities through thoughtful planning, idea generation, problem solving, risk identification and mitigation, project skills, excellent communication, and a fresh and objective perspective. Leading without authority, often times, the Global Project Engineer will leverage their in-house and industry experience to guide teams on best business practices and project management practices, drive efficiencies, reduce risks, and optimize problem-solving with a long-term, business holistic outlook. A successful incumbent will maintain a Global, “One Olympus” lens on every new initiative, ensuring all relevant business partners and regions are considered or leveraged to introduce comprehensive, globally harmonized solutions.


The incumbent will achieve this work mainly through managing high-quality execution of strategic projects and value-add activities such as value stream mapping and Kaizen events. He/she will achieve objectives by: contributing information and recommendations on strategic plans, coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors, providing regular updates on progress status and risks, motivating teams, driving cross-regional and cross-functional collaboration, and leading value-add activities such as process mapping, root cause and investigation discussions, and pre-mortems. He or she will develop project plans and track status, prepare and manage budgets, and hold business responsible parties accountable. In addition, he or she will ensure effective and regular communication on the project, including topics such as risks, change management, and quality to all stakeholders. The incumbent will embrace change, and be dynamic in motivating others to be flexible in completing objectives through an ever-evolving and improving business.

Job Duties

* Directly manage specific projects and programs, as assigned. Leads large/complex projects and leads the project team. Can lead multiple project concurrently and/or some programs. Drives their successful execution.


* Work with executive sponsors, business partners, regional teams, and subject matter experts to define project scope, structure, project plan and timeline.


* Develop and maintain project-specific proposals, charters, detailed plans, budgets, and schedules.


* Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure necessary buy-in, support, and approvals, and maintain a high-level of engagement throughout.


* Facilitate project meetings. Provide presentations and reports on projects and initiatives.


* Lead value-add activities, such as hosting GIMBA walks, leading Kaizen events, facilitating pre-and post-mortems, and designing/facilitating brainstorming sessions.


* Proactively identify and escalate risks, roadblocks, and challenges in a timely manner. Provide contingency plans and/or facilitate discussions to establish risk-mitigations.


* Proactively identify opportunities and propose projects to improve business systems, processes and practices.


* Provide strategic guidance to business partners on all aspects of projects/processes under review, including: strategic approach, scope, and opportunities for continuous improvement.


* Monitor project progress and report on project progress, problems, solutions.


* Manage internal and external vendor relationships, including contract initiation and amendments, PO and budget, and vendor performance.


* Advise in architecting plans for communication, change management and organizational adjustments.


* Drive cross-collaboration and end-to-end solutions across business units, functions and regions.


* Mentor and train other department members as appropriate.


* Advance the quality and delivery of the Global QARA Project Management Office function.


* Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent required. 

 

* Minimum of 5 years of direct project management experience required.

 

* Demonstrated success in leading projects and cross-functional teams required.

 

* Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.): Domestic and International travel up to 50%, as necessary. Flexible working hours across multiple time zones, due to the Global nature of this role.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

PMP certification preferred, but not required.


* Lean Six Sigma certification, preferred.


* ASQ certifications in one or more of the following areas is preferred but not required: Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).

 

* Experience in a medical device, life sciences or another highly regulated industry is preferred.

 

* Experience leading a variety of project types such as technical, change management, and supply chain/operational projects is preferred.

 

* Experience working globally or across regions or sites is preferred.

 

* Knowledge of Risk Management practices, Corrective and Preventative Actions, Process Validation and regulatory requirements such as FDA QSR's, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 & 21 CFR 820 is preferred.

 

* Proficient with DMAIC / Black Belt / Six Sigma type tools to analyze, drive root cause, and solve problems.

 

* Strong understanding of project management foundational elements, including: chartering and scoping, budgeting, communication, stakeholder management, project management, change management, etc.

 

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation.


* Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with different personalities, cultures and levels of management.
