Job Description
The Manager of Global Market Intelligence (MI) is a strategic partner for Olympus Medical Business and a key member in the Global Market Intelligence, Customer Insights & Analytics (MCI&A) team under the Strategy and Portfolio Management. This position acts as a regional and global specialty MI Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned business segment processing information on markets, competitors and customers, and providing analysis and insights to internal stakeholders.
The Manager is the global functional project lead and collaboratively work in a global team who supports all phases of product life cycle and will achieve business results. He/she will be responsible for conducting and managing all MI deliverables (i.e., primary market research, competitive intelligence) for the assigned business segment in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. This position is highly visible to all management levels. It is expected that this role will develop strong collaboration with the Market Analytics team and other teams in MCI&A and strategic cross-BU partnership with key stakeholders (i.e., Business Unit (BU) Leaders, BU Global & Regional Marketing, Strategy, Business Development, R&D, Corporate functions, etc.).
The candidate will be a self-starter and comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced matrix global working environment.
This position will report to the global functional lead in the global team and act as a regional and global specialty Subject Matter Expert and the key business partner to the assigned BUs.
Job Duties
* Become a regional and global subject matter expert on markets and competitors for assigned Business Unit (BU). Provide recommendations and insights to internal stakeholders.
* Perform and provide MCI&A deliverables (i.e., primary market research, market assessment and trend analysis, competitive intelligence, etc.). Closely work with the MCI&A global team, assigned BU including BU leaders/strategist, Global Marketing and Regional Marketing, and other shared services.
* Manage and conduct all phases of qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects (from writing RFP and vendor selection to final presentation with actionable recommendations) and ensure that the projects accomplish research objectives within the appropriate timeline/budget.
* Perform a variety of competitive intelligence activities and deliverables. Regularly monitor, collect and analyze market and competitor intelligence from a wide range of internal and external sources. Compile and publish intelligence deliverables on a regular basis (i.e., competitor earnings summary and insights). Conduct customized competitive research to obtain deep-dive competitor information and strategies (i.e., Pricing data collection).
* Closely work with the Market Analytics team and the BU Marketing (global and regionals) for market model development and update (market size estimation, market forecast and SOM) by product category and by county/region. Collect data, develop the market model segmentation, confirm the methodology determination, develop assumptions, and review and validate the model.
* Support assigned BU for the Strategic Business Planning and also each product development stage exit throughout the product development life cycle, from the early opportunity evaluation stage to after commercialization by providing research and analysis across all regions.
* Partner with internal stakeholders to build and strengthen market understanding and develop short and long term recommendations on how the gaps of data and information should be prioritized and approached.
* Identify market trends and opportunities and identify competitive advantages/threats. Develop in-depth market assessments.
* Act as a central global and regional MedTech industry expert for the BU.
* Serve as a key member of the Global MCI&A to contribute for the MCI&A foundational development and improvement.
* Participate in other projects and taskforces (i.e., Cross-BU projects) as needed.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor’s degree in business (marketing, management), economics, mathematics, engineering, finance, or related disciplines is required. MBA degree strongly preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience inclusive of the following is required:
* Minimum of 5 years of market intelligence experience (primary/secondary market research, competitive intelligence).
* Minimum of 5 years of strategic and business acumen experience.
* Minimum of 3 years of international work experience.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in people management / development.
* Travel <5% (domestic and international).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum of 3 years of healthcare industry. Medical device industry preferred.
* General Surgery, Robotics, AI, Digital in Medical technology experience a plus.
* Self-motivated, high commitment and dedication with proactive mind-set. Detail oriented and high quality deliverables. Outstanding written and verbal communication
* Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills. Ability to understand technical and clinical aspects of business
* Project management skills and the ability to multitask with detailed follow-through on deadlines
* Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. Ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams
* Advanced computer proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. Visualization tool such as PowerBI a plus.
* Good understanding of different market research techniques/methodologies with proven experience. Good understanding of competitive intelligence activities and techniques with proven experience
* Some knowledge of statistical analysis/financial analysis.
** The anticipated compensation range for this position is $88,000 to $124,000 USD annually and the compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s qualifications.
