Job Description

The Director of Human Resources – Global Business Services (GBS) is a leadership position responsible for managing all aspects of the HR GBS organization for the Americas Region. This role will be responsible for the identification, prioritization, and optimization of an effective service delivery organization.  They will serve as lead for all GBS HR functional teams including Payroll, HR Service Center, and Learning Technologies and represent Olympus Corporation of the Americas in the development and operation of a Global Shared Services network. 

Job Duties

* Responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and delivery of GBS-HR services including:


     - Payroll - Responsible for the processing, transmission and overall management of multiple payrolls encompassing Olympus employees in the Americas.  


          • Partners with Finance the coordination of the General Ledger. Provides payroll and tax expertise in the processing of Inpat earnings and deductions in partnership with Global Mobility, Tax and external tax vendors. 


     - HR Service Center – Responsible for the overall HR Service Center operations


          • Maintaining responsibility for the oversight of staffing and management of the HR Service Center, including but not limited to call volume and issue resolution management, meeting service level agreements.


          • Providing strategic direction and guidance to staff in the areas of:  New Hire Orientation (NHO), time and attendance, data entry, background verifications and reporting.


     - Learning Technology - Responsible for the LMS content and execution of all digital training programs with primary focus on medical business units.


          • Leads the operational areas of eLearning for all corporate training initiatives to include but not limited to continuous quality assessment for the purpose of system and technology improvements and necessary revisions to training data management.


          • Overall responsibility for the data integrity, operational, and compliance elements of a validated LMS system.  Monitors operations to unsure compliance with FDA and other applicable regulatory requirements.


* Identify process improvements, including gap eliminations, & present the proposals to key stakeholders and leaders to achieve buy-in (regional and global processes); Enhance controls and audit processes that maximize efficiency while maintaining operational compliance (including Privacy and Security).


* Design, implement and monitor metrics and KPIs and report effectiveness of processes and systems; benchmark against industry best practice.


* Liaise with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, HR, HRIS, IT, Finance in the execution of process improvements and optimization of operations.

Job Requirements



* Bachelor's degree in a business major (finance marketing human resources etc) or related program required. Master's degree strongly preferred.


* Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in leading Human Resources Business functional roles.


* Minimum of 3 years of people management experience required.


* Requires broad management and leadership knowledge with an ability to lead project teams as needed.


* Ability to travel domestically and internationally 35% of the time.




* Experience working in a global organization across multiple cultures sites and functions. Specific experience in international HR with a focus on Europe or Japan is strongly preferred.


* Multi-Functional experience including global experience or multi- value center experience preferred.


* Experience supporting Sales Manufacturing Engineering and/or R&D functions is a plus. 


* Ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organization including at senior levels.


* Knowledge of complex business models and/or technology exposure and aptitude.


* Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments while fostering a collaborative and cooperative work environment.


* Skill in budget preparation and fiscal management.


* Strong leader with a bias towards action - able to move quickly and decisively; has results-driven orientation.


* Excellent analytical skills and comfort working within an environment where efforts are measured against quantitative objectives or ROI Self-starter that is assertive, possesses a high degree of self- confidence, leadership, and intellectual curiosity; exhibits a bias for action and demonstrates presence.


* Proficient computer skills relative to Word Excel Power Point and related business systems.
