Job Description

The Director, Reimbursement & Market Access is part of Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) and reports directly to Executive Director, Global Health Economics & Market Access. As part of the HEMA leadership team, will serve as in-house subject matter expert on reimbursement strategy development, implementation and market access. Leads and addresses healthcare coding coverage and payment policy issues relevant to current and new business product or procedural needs. This position is responsible for creating and managing strategic and tactical elements of the U.S. specific reimbursement process to acquire coding, coverage and payment for Olympus products and services. This individual will monitor US healthcare trends to ensure organizational awareness of government legislation, public/private payer policies, and/or regulatory issues at the federal and state levels that affect the organization and respond to the same.

Job Duties

* Design and implement reimbursement, market access and health policy strategies for Olympus products in the Therapeutic and Endoscopic Solution Divisions and to engage with external organizations including professional societies, CMS, AMA, commercial or HTA organizations.

 

* Lead value proposition development for non-clinical stakeholders; incorporating economics, reimbursement and payor requirements.

 

* Work with senior leadership and relevant stakeholders from private and government payors and key opinion leaders to secure coverage.

 

* Maintain a thorough understanding of reimbursement and health policy trends which are likely to affect the business in the future and ensure this information is communicated across the organization.

 

* Collaborates closely with other functional areas within Olympus to effectively develop RFPs, select research partners, execute contracts, plan and manage budgets, and to develop findings into publications in alignment with Olympus’ strategic imperatives.

 

* Provide functional input to portfolio and business development decisions to ensure reimbursement and market access needs are incorporated.

 

* Educate and work cross-functionally with clinical, sales, marketing to strengthen strategic planning and value development through execution to drive market access in targeted markets.

 

* Other related job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor or Master's degree or an advanced degree in public policy, health policy, public health or a related discipline.

 

* Minimum of 7 years of functional experience in the areas of US reimbursement, market access and health policy within medtech industry.

 

* Practical knowledge and experience with: Category I/III applications, G code, TPT, NT-APC, APC reassignment, RUC valuation models, HTA processes, J Codes, HCPCS, CPT and ICD10.

 

* Demonstrated hands on approach to develop and execute access strategies for innovative medical technologies.

 

* Experience and understanding of CMS payment mechanisms, commercial insurance, medical and health policy development processes.

 

* Good working knowledge of U.S. healthcare system, inclusive of hospital, ambulatory surgery center and physician office financial systems.

 

* Domestic and international travel 20%, including weekend and evening travel as needed.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Health economic experience a plus.

 

* Outstanding communication and people leadership skills with demonstrated success in leading a cross-functional team in the development and execution of strategies for acquiring coding, coverage and payment for new healthcare technologies.

 

* Excellent management and organization skills to build a high functioning team of both internal employees and consultants.
