Job Description

This position is an integral member of the Corporate Communications department which drives internal and external communications and marcom activities for Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) -- including all entities, business groups, and corporate functions throughout the Americas -- and partners with the global organization on global communications initiatives. Department consistently champions Olympus’ and OCA’s Business Objectives, Purpose, and Core Values. In this role, incumbent supports daily responsibilities of the Corporate Communications function and primarily supports internal / employee communications initiatives and strategies. Position plays an integral role in facilitating timely information to employees; enhancing awareness and engagement of company news and initiatives; and enforcing consistent messaging and branding. Writes and develops a wide range of communications content and materials, and supports internal communications platforms, channels, and tools. Role regularly partners with internal cross-functional stakeholder groups to support their communications objectives and assists in supporting more complex communications and change management efforts within the company.

Job Duties

* Facilitates communicating information to employees in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to leadership messages, company news/announcements, business updates, and feature stories.

 

* Supports internal communications goals by conceptualizing, writing, and editing a full range of communications content as needed for business groups, corporate functions, and initiative owners.

 

*  Integrates various communications tactics and channels to effectively reach different audiences and stakeholder groups. (Memos, FAQs, talking points, speeches, presentations, website, corporate brochure, videos, broadcast emails, intranet, enterprise social media, town halls, round tables, surveys.)

 

* Supports internal communications platforms including but not limited to Company Intranet, company-wide Broadcast communications, Town Hall meetings, Yammer, and distribution list solution.

 

* Identifies new ways to expand communications, increase collaboration, and gain efficiencies through Microsoft 365 and similar digital tools.

 

* Acts as a consulting partner and provides support for executives/leadership and stakeholders/groups for their communications and presentations.

 

* Supports more complex communications plans for strategic business initiatives and change management efforts within the company as needed.

 

* Supports multiple communication assignments and projects of varying priority and timeliness across all areas of the company.

 

* Supports the organization, logistics, and implementation of employee town hall meetings and other internal events as required.

 

* Creates and/or maintains communications templates as resources and guides for various communications needs.

 

* Develops external communications as assigned; may include developing or maintaining externally facing communications pieces (company brochure, external presentation, external website, etc.), creating presentations, and supporting Olympus-supported events and Community Affairs activities.

 

* Acts a strong brand ambassador and builds employee engagement throughout the organization.

 

* Adheres to all corporate, legal, and regulatory practices and policies.

 

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Digital Media, Marketing or equivalent knowledge and experience required.

 

* Minimum of three (3) years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, marketing communications, marketing, or related field.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience with digital platform such as intranets, web, O365, SharePoint is a plus but not required.

 

* Experience working in a matrixed organization and supporting change management initiatives is a plus but not required.

 

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong command of the English language and thoroughly understands developing/editing content for different audiences internally and externally and using appropriate channels/mediums.

 

* Solid project management, managing multiple projects, and attention to detail.

 

* Thrives in a fast-paced environment, manages time well, and demonstrates agility with shifting priorities.

 

* Ability to work independently from manager and takes initiative.
