Job Description

The Buyer/Planner purchases OEM completed products from specified suppliers ensuring timely delivery while maintaining and delivering cost reductions preventing backorders as well as preventing overstock situations. They ensure company ERP system is up to date with part master information within Oracle for the proper output and dissemination of MRP information.) They analyze the needs of manufacturing and orders material to ensure an uninterrupted flow of goods and services sufficient to support the master production schedule and/or sales plan.

Job Duties

* Performs domestic and global sourcing of assigned commodities

 

* Maintain supplier files in accordance with policies

 

* Accountable for data input and integrity of items and suppliers within responsibility

 

* Recommend and propose cost saving proposals including alternative sourcing

 

* Works with management to address in a timely manner all aspects of commodity management including procurement support commodity business plans pricing and product availability

 

* Support sustaining project teams Order Management Reviews and analyzes purchase requirements

 

* Prepare and execute blanket purchase orders where appropriate and manage releases accordingly

 

* Execute purchasing activities with an assigned supply base ensuring communication to suppliers is on time and accurate

 

* Place Purchase Orders obtaining order confirmations expedite/de-expedite cancelling managing PO dates etc

 

* Review adjust if necessary and execute Oracle MRP Exceptions report

 

* Reconcile receiving and invoice discrepancies with suppliers and/or internal supporting functions

 

* Interact with suppliers and foster good working relationships Interacts closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues

 

* Participate on NCR reviews and closure

 

* Facilitates the prompt resolution to Supplier Change Notices by engaging the proper support functions

 

* Assist in preparation analysis presentation to resource approval boards 

 

* Generate and report on supplier performance metrics for assigned supply base

 

* Identify potential solutions to improve poor performing suppliers Supply Planning Thorough understanding of ERP system planning and its impact on purchasing activities

 

* Ability to analyze changes to the inputs and outputs of the Material Requirements plan identify problems and recommend solutions

 

* Manage the assigned supplier base to ensure proper inventory levels

 

* Analyze material requirements and recommend changes to item master data both purchasing and planning parameters to support purchasing strategy drive cost reduction & improve service levels

 

* Review forecast and propose specific solutions and/or recommendations to manager to best support forecast changes as well as the impact to item master data

 

* Proactively communicates with manager regarding maximizing changes to: part parameters, supplier database information, Non- Conformances

 

* Performs cost analysis and volume planning for commodities in support of purchasing strategy

 

* Assist in annual standard cost setting exercises

Job Requirements

REQUIERD QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Bachelor's degree required

 

* Minimum 3 years of material purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferably medical

 

* Ability to travel

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

* Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred

 

* Significant knowledge of MRP systems Engineering Quality and general business processes

 

* Strong problem solving data analysis and decision-making abilities

 

* Functional knowledge of supplier processes Knowledge of EDI transactions related to purchasing

 

* Understanding of change and comprehension to sense of urgency

 

* Must be able to influence negotiate and resolve conflicts to reach consensus around common goals

 

* Advanced communication skills with the ability to present complex data and situations
